ITDE looking for proposals for Professional Development Day sessions

LLCC’s Fall Professional Development Day is being held Tuesday, Nov. 3 and ITDE is looking for breakout session presenters.  Sessions may include any of or a combination of the following areas of interest:  active learning techniques, student engagement, online and hybrid, teaching and learning, pedagogy and methodology, collaborative learning, assessment, unique instructional strategies, student retention, effective feedback, student developed content, active military and veteran students, adult learners/non-traditional students, diverse student populations, technology integration, social media, gamification, flipped classroom, mobile learning, open educational resources, e-textbooks, or any teaching and learning topic of your interest.

Proposals are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 and can be submitted online.

LLCC PD offers basic CPR/AED training Sept. 17-two sessions

The LLCC PD is  offering Basic CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation/AED (automated external defibrillator) training on Sept. 17  to all interested faculty and staff. There will be two sessions, one at 8:30 a.m. and one at 1 p.m. Both will be in the R. H. Stephens Room. The training lasts approximately two hours. Interested? Contact Heather Voyles, LLCC Police assistant, at x62278 to reserve a spot.

Need data from IR? Please submit Data Request Form

Beginning Sept. 1, all faculty and staff requests for data/information from the LLCC Institutional Research Office should be requested via a  “Data Request” form.  The form, IR Data Request, is located in the Electronic Forms Library on the Employee Portal.  This change is being implemented to help the IR staff prioritize and track internal data requests.

Bistro to Go reopens Sept. 14!

Bistro To Go, LLCC’s student-run café,  will open Monday, Sept. 14 and run through Wednesday, Nov. 18. Bistro to Go will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.  It will offer soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, baked goods and coffee drinks for take-away.  Weekly changing menus will be posted on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LlccCulinaryArtsAndHospitalityProgram .  We ask for orders no large than six, and no call-in orders.

Still time to register for first CQI session of the fall!

LLCC is committed to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). If you haven’t yet taken CQI training, here’s your chance.

The first CQI session in FY ’16 will take place Friday, Sept. 11, 8:15 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sept. 18, 8:15-12:30 p.m. Lunch will be served the first day, and coffee will be served both days. LLCC Theatre in the community

Mark Hardiman, professor of theatre, theatre students Nick Snyder and Shannon Murphy and LLCC alum Katie Steinhour recently participated in Theatre in The Park’s benefit, “Broadway and Chocolate,” with a new scene from Prof. Hardiman’s adaptation of “Treasure Island.” Attendance total for the event was 360 and there was positive feedback and applause when “Treasure Island” was announced. The collaborative production of “Treasure Island” will be open May 20, 2016. Visit theatreinthepark.net for details soon.
