Thank you from the Writing Center

The Writing Center extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our school supply drive for Harvard Park Elementary students and made monetary donations for students in need at LLCC. Because of your generosity, we were able to deliver over four boxes of school and office supplies to Harvard Park and give to Career Development Services over $120 in gas cards and bus passes for our LLCC students in need.

Finance Department Ugly Christmas Sweater Coloring Contest

Coloring for adults has become very popular of late and is considered to be a great way to relieve stress. So, the Ugly Christmas sweaterFinance Department decided that instead of wearing ugly Christmas sweaters this year, we would color them. The contest was held Wednesday, Dec. 16 with Thom Whalen, art professor, serving as the guest judge. The winners were: Most Creative Ugly Sweater: Dorothy Marshall; 1st Runner-up Ugly Sweater: Cheryl Sneed; Best Ugly Sweater: Elyse Calhoun. Please feel free to stop by the Finance Department to see all of the entries.

LLCC animated holiday e-card available

This year LLCC is going green with an LLCC holiday animated e-card, designed by Misty Hagstrom in PRM, for employees to send to others, rather than a printed version. You can insert this image into your emails and add a personal message. You may also attach the image to an email. LLCC-Happy-Holidays

Note: If you insert the e-card image into your email, the animation in the snow globe does not work on some email providers, including Outlook. Your recipient can click on the attached image, however, and see the animation. Please contact Misty Hagstrom if you have any questions.

Assigned advising beginning for spring semester

Advising, Counseling, Career Services is making some improvements for spring semester! We have spent the fall transitioning to having assigned advisors for students. As we focus on the best way to serve our students, we feel this will allow advisors to form a stronger connection with their assigned students.

Advisors have been assigned by programs and special groups like honors students and athletes. By assigning students this way it allows the advisor to be the “expert” on their own programs. Advisors can also focus on how their programs transfer to other universities. The advisor will be the contact person in advising for their programs and will attend academic department meetings to stay current on program information. In addition, the advisor will send out personalized emails to their students throughout the semester.

We are encouraging students to make an appointment to see their assigned advisor each semester, but will continue to see walk-in students Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Please feel free to send me any ideas or feedback as we take a giant step toward improving our services to students!

TODAY: SGA angel tree gifts due; BOT meets

For those of you who took a tag from the Student Government Association (SGA) angel tree, please drop off the gift to the Student Life Office before the end of TODAY. If you did not get a chance to get a tag, the opportunity to do so may be available if there are gifts that do not get turned in for individuals at the Springfield Retirement Village. To assist SGA in making sure everyone receives a gift, please contact Marie Robert, marie.robert@llcc.edu, to find out if anyone is still unaccounted for.

The LLCC Board of Trustees meets tonight at 5:15 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room, Menard Hall. Find the agenda HERE.
