Throughout the year, the LLCC Food Pantry supports students experiencing food insecurity. As we enter a season of many holiday celebrations and traditions, often centered around food, the need becomes even more apparent. The Third Annual “Operation Full Belly” aims to provide students who elect to participate with the ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal.
Starting today (Nov. 1) through Wednesday, Nov. 15, Student Life will accept donations for these Thanksgiving meal boxes. Collection bins will be around campus, including in the Student Life office (lower level of Menard Hall).
To contribute food, please choose from the list of suggested items so that all the boxes will be comparable. Suggested items are:
- Biscuit mix
- Cranberry sauce, canned
- Gravy, jar or packet
- Dessert mix & topping/frosting
- Drink mix, powdered (juice, hot chocolate or cider)
- Macaroni & cheese, boxed
- Marshmallows, mini
- Mashed potatoes, instant
- Stuffing, boxed
- Vegetables, canned (corn or green beans)
- Yams, canned
To contribute monetarily, please visit www.llccfoundation.org/donate and choose “Operation Full Belly” from the Designation drop-down menu. Donations will be used to both shop for items to include in the boxes, as well as to provide students with grocery gift cards to pick up perishable items or something specific to their own traditions. Any donations beyond what is needed for this holiday will be used toward responding to student food concerns at other times.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Student Life staff at studentlife@llcc.edu or 217-786-2241.
