Paul Simon Essay Contest

Please encourage students to enter this year’s Paul Simon Essay Contest. An essay of 500 words or less on the topic “How my community college changed my life” gets students entered to win cash and other cool prizes, courtesy of the LLCC Foundation and Bookstore. The local winner will be entered in the statewide competition for the chance to win a $500 scholarship. Come take a selfie with Edgar Allan Poe, who will be haunting the Writing Center with his pet raven; peruse the stack of free books, many of which have been donated by Land of Lincoln Bookshare; and pick up a Writing Center bookmark that you can customize with your own favorite quotes and motivations for writing. We look forward to seeing you!

The LLCC Writing Center and Student Life are now accepting submissions for the Paul Simon Essay Contest. Students must submit an essay of 500 words or less on the topic of “How My Community College Changed My Life.” Local winners will receive prizes from the LLCC Foundation and the bookstore, and the first place winner will be forwarded to the statewide competition, which is sponsored by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association. Encourage students to enter scholarship essay contests

The Writing Center and Student Life are sponsoring the Gandhi/King Peace Scholarship Essay Contest.  The top LLCC winner will win a gift card to the LLCC bookstore and be forwarded to the statewide competition. For more information: Ghandi.King_2017Flyer
