Last day to submit 2024 Distinguished Service Award nominations

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes more than the “employee of the year.” This award is given to LLCC employees who demonstrate exemplary leadership and service to the college community, promote a student-focused environment and exhibit a strong commitment to the college’s core values. Service is a matter of the job. Leadership can be provided in subtle ways. This award recognizes those who provide service and leadership beyond the minimum. Nominations should clearly describe what qualities exhibited by the nominee through his/her performance, attitude, behavior and action puts them in the elite class of “Distinguished Service Award Recipient.”

Recipients of the Distinguished Service Award will be selected from the nomination pool. If no one is nominated in a particular category, no award will be given. The Committee does not widen the pool beyond those nominations received, so your nomination is important! The selection committee is comprised of past recipients of the award and other members of the college community. All employment classifications are represented.

To make a nomination, please submit the nomination form along with an essay about the nominee. The essay can be as long or short as you want it to be so long as concrete examples are provided of the areas identified in the nomination form. The information provided in the essay will be the basis of the evaluation for the selection committee.

SURS onsite counseling, May 21

We are excited to announce that the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) will be visiting LLCC on May 21 to provide 12 retirement counseling appointments and written estimates. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to plan your retirement with confidence. Members have until May 7 to schedule an appointment unless the schedule fills prior to that date, so sign up quickly! To schedule a retirement counseling appointment or request a written estimate, click on the attachment. Please note the eligibility criteria based on your plan type and years of service. If members have questions about their appointments or need assistance with scheduling an appointment, we advise you to call the call center directly at 800-275-7877.

Learn How to be a Spoonie Next Week!

Many of us are challenged with managing limited energy due to disabilities, chronic illness or simply the demands of everyday life. Learning How to be a Spoonie can help! This powerful metaphor helps us understand and communicate our energy levels.

Join us on April 25, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Trutter Center, to learn about the Spoon Theory and how it can be applied to daily life. Through discussions and activities, we will explore how to conserve energy, set boundaries and prioritize self-care. Whether you are personally affected by a chronic condition, daily life demands or want to support others who are, this event will offer valuable insight for all. Mark your calendars for an experience to help you learn how to navigate the challenges of managing energy levels. We look forward to seeing you there!

Journaling and Mindfulness Today

Dear Journal. A pen and journal with a nearby plant.As a reminder, today’s journaling and mindfulness session will be held in Menard Hall, Room 1177 beginning at noon. Journals and ink pens will be available, a giveaway will be awarded to a lucky winner and attendants can enjoy items from the Wellness Wagon. We hope to see you there!

Employee Recognition Ceremony is May 16

Join us on May 16 for the annual Employee Recognition Ceremony where we will celebrate and honor the hard work, dedication and achievements of our exceptional employees. We will honor those celebrating milestone anniversaries and present the Distinguished Service Awards. The ceremony will take place in the Student Union from 3-5 p.m. More details and invitations will follow soon. Veg Out With Us Today

Head over to the Workforce Careers Center lobby beginning at noon today to try dishes prepared by LLCC culinary students followed by a cooking demonstration at 12:30 p.m. Students will prepare a soup, sauce and smoothie for tasting while attendees will have the opportunity to take a guess at the veggie within each recipe to win prizes. Join in to see what our culinary students can do, try some yummy food and get some great recipes!
