LLCC Trustees sworn in, new officers selected, student trustee seated
The LLCC Board of Trustees certified results of the April 4 election at its meeting Wednesday night, with all current members sworn in for new four- or six-year terms.
LLCC trustees represent separate districts within the college’s district, which covers all or parts of 15 counties in central Illinois. Elected to continue their service on the board were:
District 1: Samantha Raymond of Springfield, six-year term
District 2: Vicki Davis, Ed.D. of Riverton, six-year term
District 3: Gordon Gates of Springfield, four-year term
District 4: Wayne Rosenthal of Morrisonville, six-year term
District 5: Jeff Fulgenzi of Sherman, four-year term
District 6: Mark Holaway of Jacksonville, four-year term
District 7: Ken Elmore of Waggoner, four-year term
Following the swearing in, trustees unanimously chose Gates as chair of the board, Rosenthal as vice chair and Raymond as secretary. Each will serve for two years in those offices.
Elmore was recognized for his dedicated service as board chair for the past two years.
The board welcomed Rayna Herzog of Springfield, a freshman psychology major, as the new student trustee for the upcoming year, and recognized outgoing student trustee Giles Harris-Patel of Springfield for his service.
Board members represent residents of the college district to assure that the college is providing programs and services that meet the educational needs of the communities within the district. The board operates in accordance with guidelines established in the Illinois Public Community College Act and functions as the college’s policy-making body.
