Free Mental Health Assessments for Students, Dec. 2

Memorial Behavioral Health Mobile Crisis Response Team will be on campus on Monday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to provide FREE mental health assessments for LLCC students.

There will be 3 different assessments: depression, anxiety, and stress inventory.

Multiple staff from MBH Mobile Crisis Response Team will be on site to provide follow-up resources, safety plans, and answer any questions regarding the assessment or follow-up care. LLCC Student Care Coordinator, Kellee Phillips, will also be on site.

The assessments will take place in the large lounge in A. Lincoln Commons and mental wellness activities will be provided for students to come and go as they please, even if they do not wish to take an assessment.

Please spread the word to your students to take advantage of the FREE mental health assessments.

Remember: if you or someone you know is in emotional distress or mental health crisis on campus and need help during work hours, please contact Kellee Phillips at 217-786-2409. Memorial Behavioral Health Mobile Crisis Response can be reached 24/7/365 at 217-788-7070 for anyone in emotional distress or a mental health crisis within Sangamon County.

You can also call or text the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline if someone is in a mental health crisis and needs help now.

Donate to LLCC’s Student Thanksgiving Lunch

Pumpkins and leavesLLCC Registration is excited to announce our annual Student Thanksgiving Lunch will be held on Friday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for our hardworking students and unite the campus community.

To make this event a success, we’re seeking your generous support through donations. Your contribution will help us provide a delicious Thanksgiving meal, including all the traditional fixings, for our students. Sign up to bring/make a food donation. Donations of stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and corn casserole are still needed.

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a significant impact. Your support will help us create a memorable Thanksgiving experience for our students. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Lincoln Land Community College KUDOS: Key or Unique Demonstrations of Outstanding ServiceKey or Unique Demonstrations of Outstanding Service award nominations are open! They will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 22. Faculty and staff can nominate a deserving colleague by submitting the KUDOS form (also available by clicking on the KUDOS tab in the upper-right corner of LincIn). Please use a Chrome or Firefox browser when completing this form. The KUDOS awards will be announced Friday, Dec. 6.

The KUDOS awards are an informal way to recognize the special contributions — small and large — made by faculty and staff that create the positive environment that is LLCC.

Journaling and Mindfulness Today

Join the Journaling and Mindfulness session today in Menard Hall, Room 1179 from noon until 1:00 p.m. Led by Deborah Brothers and John Paul Jaramillo, this session will allow for time to relax and spark creativity. Bring your journal and ink pen, or grab one of each from the Wellness Wagon, and enjoy some time for self-care.

ICCB Sponsoring “Feed the Need” Food Drive

Community Colleges Feed teh Need Food DriveAll Illinois community colleges have been invited to participate in a competition (where everyone really wins because students and/or local pantries receive donations!). Each school has been asked to track any donations that come in through Nov. 30.

The LLCC community has already been extremely generous — particularly with items for Thanksgiving bags — and those donations earned us points. (We’re in the running!) If you would like to contribute anything additional, donations are welcomed. They can be dropped off in LLCC Student Life or at pantries at other LLCC locations.

As we near the end of the semester, grab and go snacks, microwavable soups/meals/ramen, tuna and chicken salad packets … even Lunchables … will be very popular. We are thankful for this community each day!

CCSSE Survey Results Discussion today

LLCC participated in the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) last spring. IRE will host two CCSSE discussions of our results. An academic services focused session is scheduled for today, Nov. 13, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. It will be held in Menard Hall, Room 2268 and is open to everyone at the college.

The Learning Resources Workgroup meets again today, Nov. 13, 1-3 p.m. in Kreher Agriculture Center, Rooms 1115/1117. We have data to share and foster further discussion. Today’s AIeL workshop: Accessibility Updates in Canvas

Join AIeL today, Nov. 13, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Teams, for an informative workshop where they will explore the latest updates to digital accessibility regulations and introduce two powerful new tools integrated into Canvas — UDOIT and TidyUP. These tools replace the old Ally Accessibility Checker, offering a more streamlined and user-friendly approach to ensuring your course content meets current accessibility standards. John Freml, director, faculty development, and Matthew Trueblood, instructional designer, will guide you through how UDOIT scans and identifies accessibility issues in your course, and how TidyUP helps you manage and clean up unnecessary files. By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to create more accessible and organized online learning environments for all students.
