As part of the 50 Acts of Service in conjunction with the college’s 50th Anniversary, LLCC will be putting together a WATER STOP team to volunteer at the Girls on the Run 5K. LLCC is accepting nominations for its 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction to be held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 in Cass Gymnasium. Introduction of inductees will take place at the half-time of the men’s basketball game against Illinois Central College, which begins at 3 p.m. The public is invited.
Any former male or female LLCC athlete who participated on one of the college’s athletic teams for at least one season prior to 2012 is eligible for nomination into the LLCC Athletic Hall of Fame. Nominations are being accepted through Oct. 31, 2016.

In collaboration with the 50th Anniversary Committee LLCC faculty, staff and students will participate in 50 volunteer service activities throughout the LLCC district to celebrate 50 years of being an institution and give thanks to the communities in which made these many years a success. If you would like to have your act of service added to the wall of services on the LLCC 50th Page, please submit them on the 50 Acts of Service Google Form!
The Student Life Office would like to send out a huge thank you to all the faculty, staff and volunteers who helped with the New Student Welcome Lunch and Welcome Week Activities. We had a great turn-out and we’ve already gotten some excellent feedback from our students!
The NSWL started out in the A. Lincoln Commons with information tables from various departments and clubs or organizations. Following the informational portion, two breakout sessions provided students with Bystander Intervention training and a variety of other topics. Nelson’s Catering served a delectable lunch menu in Cass Gym that was enjoyed by students, 
faculty and staff!
The Welcome Week Activities went off without a hitch! The weather cooperated beautifully on Tuesday, Aug. 23, for the outdoor Loggerpalooza event that featured the musical acoustics of artist, Scott Porter; a Human Foosball Inflatable; vendor tables, and a Pretzel Bar provided by Chase Foods.

The prairie restoration areas are beautiful this time of year with all of the blooming flowers. There’s even more to see up close! Thank you to Steve Handy, grounds maintenance supervisor, for sharing this photo he captured recently of a monarch butterfly caterpillar.
These new faculty were introduced at the Board of Trustees meeting last evening.
Ana Till is an LLCC graduate and has her M.S.N. in nursing education from SIU-E. She has a clinical background in medical/surgical nursing and has been working in Memorial Medical Center’s Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit since 2012. She has taught as an adjunct and nursing tutor with ADN students.
Amanda Roche is an LLCC graduate and has her M.S.N. in 
nursing education from Benedictine University in Lisle, and is currently working on her doctorate in nursing practice from American Sentinel University, also in education. She has an extensive clinical background in medical/surgical nursing and has been working in the Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Medical Center since 2009. Amanda has taught as an adjunct with ADN and CNA students at LLCC and has also taught LPN students. Amanda will be teaching in the critical care course in the ADN program.
Sandy Davidson is an LLCC graduate and has her M.S.N. in leadership and nursing administration from Benedictine University in Lisle. She has an extensive clinical background in medical/surgical nursing and has been working as an administrative supervisor at Memorial Medical Center since 2011 where her duties included attending to rapid response calls, codes and traumas with the ICU charge nurse. She has taught as an adjunct with ADN students in different semesters of the program.
Casandra Troxell is the new faculty member for the Surgical Technology AAS program. Casandra is a graduate of the very first class here at LLCC and she obviously impressed us as a student and has continued to impress us as a graduate. Casandra has her AAS and is a nationally Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). She belongs to the Association of Surgical Technologists. She works as a CST at Memorial Medical Center where she has vast and varied surgical experiences including robotics that she will bring to the classroom.
Lincoln Land Community College is now an approved continuing education sponsor through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for Licensed Massage Therapists. We will be holding our first continuing education seminar on October 21 at the Capital City Training Center entitled Essential Oils for Emotional Health. The seminar provides 8 CE hours to Licensed Massage Therapists; however, you do not have to be a Massage Therapist to attend. The seminar is open to the public. Lynn Whalen, executive director, Public Relations and Marketing, was interviewed on LLCC’s 50th anniversary celebration on WTAX’s Morning Newswatch Aug. 24 and for a story coming this Sunday in the SJ-R, as well as by WICS on new Illinois laws governing sexual violence on college campuses Aug. 23.
