Honors Program selling Krispy Kremes today!

The Honors Program is selling Krispy Kreme donuts TODAY in the A. Lincoln Commons from 8 a.m.-1 pm. Original glazed donuts are available and the cost is $6 per dozen. Cash or checks payable to “LLCC.” Proceeds from the fundraiser will help the Honors Program Club members pay for a Chicago museums day trip. Please consider purchasing a dozen (or two!).

The Academic Innovation and eLearning department is hosting the Innovation Celebration in the A. Lincoln Commons. The Innovation Celebration is a series of poster sessions highlighting innovative instruction and student learning initiatives at LLCC. This event provides an opportunity to share ideas about teaching experiences, student engagement activities, and other innovative college initiatives in a casual atmosphere with colleagues across campus.

3:15-4:15 p.m.:  The New Look of Assessment – A Panel Discussion, Robert H. Stephens Room
Wondering about the new assessment process that was announced at Convocation?  Want to know more about the programs participating in the pilot and what they have accomplished so far?  In this session, members from the group piloting the new assessment process will be addressing these and other questions during their panel presentation. Find out what they have learned so far regarding assessment and their programs through the new process by engaging in a dialogue with current pilot members.

 **Arts & Humanities Faculty will have their meal in MN2250 beginning at 5:00pm and the department meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the same room.

 **Math & Science Faculty will have their meal in MN2207 beginning at 5:00pm and the department meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the same room.

Social Science Faculty will be holding their evening activities in MN 2209. There will be a potluck beginning at 5 p.m. with the department meeting beginning at 6 p.m.

Business and Technology Faculty will have both their meal and meeting at 6 p.m. in WFCC 1156.

Medical Coding Faculty will have both their meal and meeting at 6 p.m. in Logan Hall 1114.

7-9 p.m.:  Assessment Workshop for Adjuncts,  MN2201
This workshop has been designed to assist adjunct faculty in their participation in the assessment process at LLCC. Participants will receive an assessment overview to gain an understanding of assessment as it occurs at LLCC and take part in a working session to complete various assessment activities, as time allows. Participants are asked to bring a syllabus with student learning outcomes, assignment instructions, assignments and/or tests, and data from completed tests and/or assignments that need to be analyzed.

LEAGUE Kickoff tomorrow!

Get Your Game On for the LEAGUE Kickoff! 

All faculty and staff are invited to join the LEAGUE Committee for lunch, fun, prizes and a little friendly competition at the annual kickoff luncheon of the LEAGUE Campaign tomorrow, Tuesday, March 28 from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. in the Student Union.
Here’s what’s in store:

  • Jennifer Ramm and friends will play as you feast on pizza, salad and breadsticks beginning at 11:30 am.
  • Play super-size editions of JENGA, Pickup Sticks and Connect Four.

A few tickets still available for today’s Ag Club Farmer’s Share Luncheon

A few tickets are still available for the LLCC Agriculture Club’s 5th annual Farmer’s Share Luncheon TODAY from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Trutter Center.  The meal costs $.50, which represents the amount a farmer receives from a $6 lunch. The menu includes pulled pork or chicken breast, cheesy potatoes, green beans and cookies. “The Vagina Monologues” March 31-April 1

LLCC is presenting a production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. The production is being held in the Trutter Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s performance features a pre-show called “Cis-iety Interrupted,” with original monologues from LLCC students and faculty and Springfield community members. The pre-show begins at 7 p.m. followed by “The Vagina Monologues” at 8 pm. The production includes adult themes and language.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or in the ticket office in Menard Hall. More information on LLCC’s production is available from Dr. Deborah Brothers, professor of English, at 786.4966 or deborah.brothers@llcc.edu.

ISBDC at LLCC observes national SBDC day by training the next generation of local entrepreneurs

Wednesday, March 22 was National Small Business Development Day. The Illinois Small Business Development Center at LLCC welcomed the Sangamon CEO high school class of aspiring entrepreneurs to learn about starting and growing a business from ISBDC Director Kevin Lust and local entrepreneurs Chuck Jackson of I.D. Signs, Kim Leistner Root of Springfieldmoms.org, and Billy Williams of CTI Fiber.
