Wellness screenings, flu shots and health fair

There is still time to sign up for the wellness screening and flu shot clinic on Oct. 10 in the Student Union in Menard Hall. There will be one more opportunity on Oct. 23. View the Oct. 2 email from HR for the link and program code to sign up!

Benefit-eligible employees are eligible to participate at no charge.  Spouses of benefit-eligible employees who are on a LLCC health insurance plan are also eligible to participate at no charge.  Benefit-eligible employees who complete the health risk assessment survey and a blood draw will receive a $50 Visa gift card!

Employees are also invited to attend the Health & Wellness Fair on Oct. 10, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union. This is a great opportunity to focus on your health and wellness while connecting with local resources. There will be more than 20 area vendors on site offering valuable information, samples and services to help you on your wellness journey. You can look forward to:

  • LLCC culinary student program demos
  • Local gym demo from Farrell’s of Springfield
  • Free chair massages from Inner Health Spa

Whether you’re looking for new ways to stay active, relax or improve your overall well-being, there’s something for everyone at the health fair. Don’t miss this chance to learn more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle!

Reminder: Walktober Starts on Oct. 1

The newest walking challenge, Walktober, kicks off on Tuesday, Oct. 1! This is a great opportunity to get outside, enjoy the beautiful fall weather, and boost your health through a friendly competition.

Form a team with your coworkers (up to six participants) and register by emailing Rachel Duff. You can find the full list of rules and details on the Health and Wellness page.

Not only is this a fun way to stay active, but it’s also a chance to connect with colleagues while taking in the crisp autumn air. Don’t miss out — register your team today!

Human Resource News – Did You HeaR?

Blue horn with the words - Did you hear?Did you HeaR that employees are invited to attend a FREE Health Screening and Health Fair each year? This screening is available to benefit eligible employees and includes blood work and a flu vaccine.

  • The blood test will provide information about cholesterol levels, kidney function, anemia, and more.
  • Employees also have the option to add on additional tests for a fee including blood type, Vitamin D levels, Thyroid function, and more.

All employees additionally have access to the CHC Wellbeing portal to view lab results, attend webinars, read articles and sign up for monthly newsletters. Employees who complete the health risk assessment and participate in the health screening are then eligible to receive a $50 gift card.

Join the upcoming annual screening being held on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 7-11:30 a.m. in the Student Union. Any questions can be sent to HR@llcc.edu.

Whether you’re a regular walker or just looking for a reason to get outside more, Walktober is a great way to boost your wellness while enjoying some friendly competition. NAMI: Ending the Silence

A reminder that NAMI: Ending the Silence is being held on campus today in the Trutter Center from noon until 1 p.m. Although in person attendance is strongly encouraged, those who are unable to be present can use the link to attend via Teams. We hope you’ll join us to continue to learn more about mental health and reducing the stigma for those who are struggling.

Mental Health Resources

The Mental Health Resources Canvas shell is available to all students and employees.

This shell contains an abundance of information regarding mental health and wellness, including but not limited to: mental health information, on campus and community resources, self help tools, national hotlines, veteran resources, relaxation techniques, etc.

Upcoming Event: “Ending the Silence” by NAMI

We are excited to remind everyone about the upcoming event titled Ending the Silence hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). This informative session is designed to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health, providing valuable insights and resources.

Wellness screenings and flu shots

Sign up for a wellness screening and flu shot on Oct. 10 or Oct. 23, 7 -11:30 a.m. in the Student Union in Menard Hall. All benefit-eligible employees and their spouses may participate. The screening is free to benefit-eligible employees and for spouses who are enrolled on a LLCC health insurance plan. All benefit-eligible employees who participate in the wellness screening and complete the health risk assessment survey will receive a $50 Visa gift card! You may also sign up for a flu shot. A regular flu shot, as well as a preservative free and high dose flu shot, will be available. View Monday’s email from HR for the link and program code to sign up!
