PTK reigns as a Gold Star Chapter for 11 years!
LLCC’s Alpha Epsilon Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa took home the hardware at the PTK Regional Conference and Honors Institute convention, held here at LLCC at the end of May.

Cheri Reardon takes on the role of director, campus services. Cheri was previously the LLCC bookstore operations manager.

Congratulations to the 2024 Dick Dhabalt Athletes of the Year
The 2024 Dick Dhabalt Athlete of the Year Award at LLCC went to Grant Pohlman of Carrollton, with men’s baseball, and Marley Smith of Auburn, with women’s basketball.
The LLCC Dick Dhabalt Athlete of the Year Award recognizes annually one LLCC male athlete and one female athlete. The award was established in February 2015 in honor of Mr. Dhabalt, former athletic director, head men’s basketball coach and faculty member, and acknowledges his dedication to education, athletics and students at LLCC.

Congratulations to LLCC alum Brice Huddleston, retired Colonel, U.S. Air Force, recipient of the Illinois Community College Trustee Association (ICCTA) statewide Distinguished Alumnus Award. Samantha Enz, secretary, LLCC Board of Trustees, was also honored at the banquet with a Trustee Education Award.
Matt Shaver, professor of integrated media design, was recognized as a nominee for the Outstanding Full-Time Faculty Member Award.

Congratulations to Andy Mitkos, director, academic technology systems and support, who recently completed a year-long leadership program. The Academy for Leadership and Development is a premier leadership development organization for higher education emerging and experienced leaders. It is centered around developing inclusive and influential leaders whose purpose is to advance their academic and administrative leadership, regardless of position.

Congratulations to Tiffany Sunderlin, student success coach, athletics, who gave birth to healthy baby boy on June 11. Both mom and baby are doing well.
LLCC student named IACEA Outstanding Adult Learner of the Year
Congratulations to LLCC’s Maxime Kassa, who was recently named Outstanding Adult Learner of the Year at the Illinois Adult and Continuing Educators Association (IACEA) Conference on March 7. The award recognizes an adult education student who has improved the life situation of themselves or others as a result of learning experience, has demonstrated leadership within formal or nontraditional learning, has overcome difficult circumstances in order to pursue learning experience, and has been supportive of others engaged in adult learning. After coming to LLCC to strengthen his English skills, Maxime completed his construction occupations certificate and will graduate this May with an associate degree in applied science in construction occupations. He has inspired others to enroll in the college’s adult education program.
LLCC’s Paramedic Program Receives Accreditation
Congratulations to LLCC’s Paramedic program, which received full accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) and CoAEMSP, the only organization recognized by CAAHEP to provide accreditation for paramedic programs. LLCC’s accreditation signals the program has established standards that ensure a high-quality education resulting in a reliable, consistent and competent workforce, which can enhance healthcare outcomes.
