Spring 2024 Professional Development Day happens today. An overview of the staff professional development day activities can be found on the HR portal. The LLCC Foundation will also be hosting the Annual LEAGUE kickoff event beginning at 11 a.m.

Faculty Professional Development Day

  • 9-11 a.m. – Instructional department activities.
  • 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. – LLCC Foundation Annual LEAGUE Kickoff Event and Luncheon in the Student Union, Menard Hall
  • 1:15-2:15 p.m. – Welcome by Dr. Jason Dockter, vice president, academic services and “Who Are Our Students?” by Cody Cox, research and analytics associate II, Institutional Research and Effectiveness – Location: Trutter Center

LEAGUE Kickoff & Lunch

Pick up lunch from one of the food trucks by noon. 3. Join us in the Student Union for a coffee bar, cookies, entertainment and Kahoot trivia.All faculty and staff are invited to join the LEAGUE Committee for the LEAGUE Kickoff and Lunch! To join us, you can pick up a lunch ticket at a ticket booth under the Menard Hall awning. You can then choose from one of the three food trucks available on the east side of Menard Hall for a complimentary lunch beginning at 11 a.m.

  • Leo’s Pizza – choice of mushroom, cheese or pepperoni pizza.
  • AZ-T-CA – chicken or beef nachos or a vegetarian option.
  • Twyford BBQ – Beef brisket or pulled chicken with choice of potato casserole or mac-n-cheese.

11 a.m.-noon – Complimentary lunch from one of three food trucks on the east side of Menard.

11:30 a.m.-noon – Gianna Hines will be playing some 90’s songs on guitar in the Student Union.

Noon-1 p.m. – Program including Kahoot Trivia, LEAGUE Grant Awards and a special feature you won’t want to miss!

50/50 raffle tickets will be available so bring cash. A coffee bar and cookies will be provided and you can also make your donation to the annual faculty and staff giving campaign. Early Childhood Presentation on Dealing with Challenging Behaviors

LLCC Early Childhood Education is hosting a presentation by Dr. Angela Searcy on Thursday, April 4 at 6 p.m. in the Trutter Center. Dr. Searcy, an early childhood educator and author, will discuss her book, “Push Past It!,” which deals with challenging behaviors. She will discuss:

  • Understanding common challenging behaviors displayed by children and adults in the early childhood zone.
  • Dealing with intense challenging behaviors in young children with and without disabilities and support the adults that care for them.
  • Collaborating with families even when it’s hard.

Dinner will be served before the presentation, at 5 p.m. This event is free to attend, but an RSVP is requested by tomorrow, March 27. Email Kathy Szamocki with your name, title and work center (if applicable). If you do not work for a center, state that you are a student.

LEAGUE. LLCC FoundationTomorrow is the kickoff of the annual faculty and staff giving campaign known as LEAGUE.

Here are some interesting facts about LEAGUE:

  • LEAGUE is an acronym for Leaders Establishing Annual Gifts Underwriting Education.
  • LEAGUE donations do not automatically renew unless you choose this option.
  • Last year, 120 faculty and staff members donated to the LEAGUE campaign for a total of approximately $48,000.
  • Almost $20,000 has been donated already this year to LEAGUE.
  • The average gift is $362 but you can donate any amount you want.
  • The average participation rate in the LEAGUE campaign since 2003 is almost 40%.
  • Since 2003, almost $900,000 has been donated to the LEAGUE for the benefit of our students and programs.

  • They have two daughters, three bonus sons, one granddaughter, two dogs, a horse and mule.
  • They love spending time at the beach with their spouse and at Disney with their family, especially their granddaughter.
