Registration closes at noon today for the wellness screenings to be held in the Trutter Center on Thursday from 6:30AM to 11:00AM. Please see attached for screening and registration details. If you are not available on Thursday, you can register to do a remote screening that allows you to do the screening at a LabCorp facility by November 1st. 2013 LLCC Wellness Screening Guide

Steve Bryant, workforce development specialist, was interviewed on WSMI Oct. 15 regarding the free weatherization specialist training program offered to Montgomery County residents.
WICS visited LLCC-Jacksonville for a story Oct. 15 on the Silent Witness display there, sponsored by the Crisis Center of Jacksonville.
The Silent Auction to benefit the Career Development Services emergency student fund is this Thursday and Friday and has more items than ever! Volunteers are needed to help with set up on Wednesday. Please contact Career Development Services (6.2210) if you can spare some time Wednesday. (You’ll also get a sneak preview of all the great donations!)

KISS-FM’s Bondsy was on campus during Campus Visit Day and interviewed Dr. Charlotte Warren, president; Mary Beth Ray, director, Career Development Services; Chris Barry, director, retention and student success; Laurie Rhodes, director, Child Development Center; Garrett Belville, student trustee; Lynn Whalen, executive director, public relations and marketing.

Mariah Kaplan, soprano, will perform Sunday, Oct. 20 as part of the LLCC Recital Series. Her 4 p.m., free concert will be held in the Trutter Center on the LLCC Campus.
Mariah was the first student to achieve gold medal awards in both piano and voice at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. In the summer of 2010, she sang at Carnegie Hall with the American High School Honors Performance Series. She now attends Indiana University where she is studying voice and psychology. Last summer, she attended the Summer Voice Festival at the Manhattan School of Music, where she played Polly Peachum in a rendition of the “The Beggars’ Opera” and “The Threepenny Opera.”
Mariah has been a student of Sue Hamilton, LLCC adjunct music instructor, for nine years.
Wednesday, Oct. 16 – Rochester 6th graders visit LLCC for a presentation and tour of the Workforce Careers Center, hosted by Public Relations and Marketing. SGA will have a Breast Cancer Awareness display and serve snow cones 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons.
Thursday, Oct. 17 – Annual Employee Wellness Screenings will take place during the morning in the Trutter Center. Contact HR for more information, 6-2752. The annual Career Development Services Silent Auction is from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room. Proceeds benefit the CDS Emergency Fund.
Friday, Oct. 18 – SGA Breast Cancer Awareness display will be in the Student Union from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Anyone wearing pink can enter to win a $50 gas card! The Annual Career Development Services Silent Auction is from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room.
Sunday, Oct. 20 – Recital Series performance by Soprano Mariah Kaplan will be in the Trutter Center at 4:00 p.m.
LLCC hosted the 41st annual Illinois Association of Community College Biologists Fri. and Sat., Oct. 11 and 12, with approximately 50 attending, along with vendors. Participants saw a bird banding demonstration and heard speakers in environmental education, common core/distrance education and anatomy/physiology pre-requisite issues. Dave Cox serves as president of the organization.

The Ag Club is holding a Silent Auction for three sets of Cornhole (bags) game that include two boards and eight poly-resin pellet filled bags. The bidding will take place today, Oct. 11 through Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 3:00pm. Opening price for each set is $40.00 and bids can be submitted to Ag Club Advisor, Bill Harmon, via email at bill.harmon@llcc.edu. Please specify if you want the: Case IH/New Holland, duck blind camoflage or John Deere.
