Notice: Fleet van usage cleaning station available

There is a cleaning station for fleet vans now available at the receiving dock! If your rented college fleet van needs to be vacuumed or needs Clorox wipes to clean a spill, please feel free to use our new cleaning station located at the receiving dock. Keys to access this station are included on your van rental key ring, and there is a drop cord available to reach the new power outlet installed on the side of the deck. Please return all components back into the station and lock it back up when finished. Thank You!

Jerry Nelson, truck driver training instructor, represented LLCC at a motorcycle safety event Saturday, Oct. 4 at Hall’s Harley Davidson. Jerry used an LLCC semi to demonstrate how truck drivers and motorcyclists can share the road safely.

Employees relocate abandoned baby squirrels

Three baby squirrels were spotted in the median between Menard Hall and the employee parking lot. They appeared to be very friendly, as they would baby squirrelswalk up to you and crawl up your leg! Cheryl Sneed and Jill Whitney were worried that they would get hit by a car, so Cheryl called Professor Tony Rothering, who advised that they be relocated for their own safety. Cheryl and Ira Bradley captured them, with assistance from Jill Whitney. The baby squirrels were relocated to the wooded area behind the maintenance storage building.

Finance Department hosting budget workshop Oct. 13

The Finance Department is hosting a budget workshop for the LLCC campus on Monday, Oct. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room. This workshop is similar to the Budget Workshop for the Board of Trustees in which the FY15 budget was presented.

LLCC hosts SMTD’s first solar bus stop in Springfield

LLCC’s Facilities department assisted the Springfield Mass Transit District in Bus stoperecting Springfield’s first solar powered bus stop on the LLCC campus Tuesday. Solar energy will power lighting at the bus stop. A ribbon cutting ceremony is in the planning stages.

Lesley Frederick, vice president of student services, was interviewed Oct. 8 by WICS-TV regarding current enrollment at LLCC, what programs were seeing higher enrollments and special programs the college has in place to help students succeed.

TODAY – Soup & Stories: Paranormal Activity

Soup & Stories: Paranormal Activity is being held TODAY from noon-1 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room.  This is a basic introduction to ghosts and hauntings from experienced paranormal investigator Carl Jones. Bring along your stories, experiences and photos to share. This event is guaranteed to be a hauntingly good time! Lunch is free to students with ID & $3 for staff, faculty and community.
