The A-Team (LLCC’s Autism Awareness and Support Group) invites you to attend an autism informational fair on Friday, April 1 in A. Lincoln Commons, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will coincide with World Autism Awareness Day (April 2) and Autism Awareness Month (April), as well as the international Light It Up Blue campaign, which encourages participates to wear blue and use blue light bulbs to help raise awareness of autism. Representatives from LLCC and the Springfield area will be available to raise awareness, answer questions, and offer support.
We also encourage all staff to wear blue on Friday to help support autism awareness at LLCC.
An article in the U.S Department of Education IFLE March newsletter featured the LLCC Arts and Humanities partnership with the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at University of Illinois for the “Cultural Values in the Eastern World” film and lecture series. Ashley Green, assistant professor of English, Paul Van Heuklom, professor of English, Dean Tim Humphrey and student Brandon Lewis all appeared in the article.
Danyle Watkins, program coordinator, Early Childhood Education, has been nominated as a 2016 Children’s Champion by the Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children (AEYC). Nominees will be recognized at the Capitol on April 13, followed by a reception and awards presentation at the Illinois State Library. The 2016 Children’s Champions represent shining examples of those in our communities doing good things for children. Congratulations Danyle!
The deadline to submit your deposits to the Finance Department is Wednesday, March 30 at noon! As a reminder, if you’ve taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to the Finance Department on a daily basis. LEAGUE is the annual giving campaign for LLCC faculty and staff to make charitable donations back to the college. The campaign always features a lot of fun, but the dollars raised are for a serious purpose – to support our students. So on their behalf thank you!

The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International has awarded LLCC its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.
LLCC was recognized for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending in 2015. This is the 16th consecutive year that the college has received the award.
The Certificate of Excellence (COE) award confirms the college finance office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Recognition through the COE program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting.
ASBO International, founded in 1910, is a professional organization of 5,000 members that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth and the effective use of education resources.
