The LLCC Bird Banding program received national attention, featured in Community College Week the week of April 11 with a story and photo.

Mark Hardiman, professor of theatre, was interviewed for an State Journal-Register article on “Treasure Island,” which he is directing at Theatre in the Park this weekend and next. The article will appear in the Thursday, May 19  A and E section. Mark will also appear on FOX 55’s Good Day Illinois program this Thursday in the 7-8 a.m. hour.

 

Office 365 Coming Soon for Faculty and Staff

ITS is in the process of migrating all LLCC Email accounts for Faculty, Adjuncts, and Staff to Office 365. This should be a seamless transfer of data. Should you experience any technical difficulties, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 786.2555, helpme@llcc.edu or submit a ticket via https://help.llcc.edu.

What does this mean for you?

After migrating your account to Office 365, you will have access to many new tools such as Clutter (Email filtering that helps to prioritize your Inbox), Office 365 online applications (One Drive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Sites) and the ability to install Office 2016 on your personal devices for free. You will continue to use the Outlook desktop application while at work and use the Outlook Web Access when off-campus.

How do I access the Office 365 applications?

You can access all of the Office 365 applications from https://portal.office.com/myapps

You can also access any of the apps while logged into Office 365 by clicking on the Office 365 icon at the top left while logged into email.

How will I know when I have been moved to Office 365?

Please watch for an Email from the ITS department notifying you when the move will take place. Once the migration has been completed, you will access your OWA Email via http://www.llcc.edu, My LLCC and click on Email under the Student section. You will be redirected to Office 365. Select your Email address and it will automatically log you in on-campus when using IE or Chrome. If you are using Firefox for your browser you will be prompted to enter your username and password in the ‘adfs security’ window.

I have been moved to Office 365 and now the link to the Email site does not work for me.

You will temporarily need to use the student email link found at http://www.llcc.edu/my-llcc/.  The employee link will be updated once the majority of the employee mailboxes have been moved.

Do I need to update my phone or tablet to access LLCC email?

Yes, your mobile device will need to be updated to continue accessing LLCC email. Click here to find an extensive list of instructions.

Where can I look for more information about Office 365?

Once your account has been migrated, you can access the LLCC Home Site for Office 365. Click here to access or after you are logged into OWA, click on the Office 365 icon at the top left while logged into email, click on Sites, and under Recommended Sites (to the right), click on Starting 365.

Woodside Road open again

For those who commute to campus via Woodside Road, the railroad crossing that has been closed for several weeks near the Iron Bridge Road intersection is now reopened. The crossing was closed to allow for upgrades to facilitate high-speed rail traffic.

David Western, LLCC’s outstanding graduate, was featured in this article in the State Journal-Register regarding Commencement. Dr. Jason Dockter, professor, English, is also featured as the 2016 Master Teacher award winner.

LLCC Theatre presents “Treasure Island” in collaboration with Theatre in the Park, opening May 20

Treasure IslandLLCC Theatre collaborates with Theatre in the Park to present “Treasure Island” May 20, 21, 22, 26, 27 and 28 in Kelso Hollow at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site.

The production is adapted and directed by Mark Hardiman, LLCC professor of theatre, from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic pirate tale. Tickets are available by calling 217.632.5440 or visiting www.theatreinthepark.net.

The cast includes Avery Biggs, John Olmstead, Tom Richardson, Elizabeth Ross, Shiloh Wheeler, Becky Wheeler, Devon R. Swafford and Matthew S. Williams, all of Springfield; Mitch Fesser of Fillmore; Brian Fortkamp of Nokomis; Brock Moore, Virden;  August Roy, Murrayville; Shannon E. Murphy, Mechanicsburg; Mike Krcil, Sherman; and Bryce Robertson, Auburn.

In addition to Hardiman, the staff includes Melinda Pitt Kaye, Ashley Merrick, John Olmstead and Ang Wetmore of Springfield; MacKenzie Lyons of Sherman; Kennideigh McKee of Stonington; August Roy of Murrayville; and Katie Eickhoff of Peoria.

LLCC Theatre is committed to education in theatre, emphasizing not only performance but also growth in those involved in the production. Those participating may choose to register for college credit or participate through LLCC’s Community Education program.

Registrations still being accepted for McMillen Run/Walk

Registrations are still being accepted for the 9th Annual Brian McMillen Memorial Run/Walk to be held Saturday, May 28. To register:  http://getmeregistered.com/BMcMVeterans5k. Registrations also will be accepted the day of the event.

T-shirts are guaranteed to participants who are registered by TODAY.  Cost for the 5K run/walk is $20 prior to race day and $25 on race day; the 10K run is $30 prior to and $35 on race day.  Awards are being presented in several categories.

Proceeds from the event support the LLCC Brian McMillen Veterans Scholarship. Any questions can be directed to Craig McFarland at craig.mcfarland@llcc.edu.

It’s Graduation Day!

Commencement Directions and Line of March

LLCC will conduct commencement exercises this evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield. All faculty and administrators should arrive by 7 p.m. to be assembled in the line of march. There will be signs directing you. Please note: the Komen Race for the Cure will also be held Friday night in downtown Springfield so plan to allow for additional traffic and limited parking. Also, due to liability issues, there will NOT be a place to check your personal belongings. A coat rack will be available but will not be supervised. Please leave anything you do not wish to carry in your vehicle.

Governor and First Lady visit LLCC Child Development Center

Mrs. Rauner is executive director of Ounce of Prevention Fund and a longtime advocate for early childhood education and child development. The Rauners praised the Center, which is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children and recognized as a Gold Level Program through ExeleRate Illinois, and posed with Laurie, the LLCC Board of Trustees and President after speaking to the media.
