Wednesday, Oct. 7 – 12th annual Multicultural Fest • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. outside A. Lincoln Commons. The annual Fest showcases various cultures with entertainment, samples of ethnic food and cultural exhibits. Thursday, Oct. 8 – East Asia Film and Lecture Series • 6-9 p.m. • Trutter Center. The film will be “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter … and Spring” (2003), directed by Ki-duk Kim. Discussion will be led by Alex Jong-Seok Lee, Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at UIUC. Admission is free.

Banned Books Readings today

The 14th annual Banned Books Readings is being held TODAY from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons.

LLCC students, faculty and staff will read from various books that were banned at some time. The event is held in observance of Banned Books Week, held nationally to celebrate the freedom to read and free and open access to information.

Eat at Bob Evans and help the LLCC scholarship fund

A reminder that if you eat at a Bob Evans restaurant in Springfield today through Oct. 5, the LLCC Foundation scholarship fund will benefit. For those eating at the Bob Evans restaurant at 4221 Conestoga Drive (near Meijer) or the restaurant located at 3050 Stevenson Drive on those dates, Bob Evans will donate cash for 15 percent of all food orders, including eat-in or carryout, to the LLCC/Springfield Civic Garden Club scholarship fund. You will need to print a copy of this flyer, BobEvansFlyer2015, for each guest check. All are welcome to participate, but MUST take a copy of the flier to the restaurant and present it at the time of check-out. The scholarship is open to LLCC students in the horticulture, landscape design, turf management and environmental-related programs.

East Asia Film Series continues Oct. 8

The Arts and Humanities department continues the East Asia Film and Lecture Series Thursday, Oct. 8 from 6-9 p.m. in the Trutter Center, in partnership with the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at UIUC. Annual Security and Fire Safety Report now available

Lincoln Land Community College is committed to assisting all members of the Lincoln Land Community College community in providing for their own safety and security. The annual security and fire safety compliance document is available on the LLCC Police Department website.

If you would like to receive a hard copy of the Annual Security Safety Report which contains this information, you can stop by the LLCC Police Department located in Sangamon Hall South, Springfield campus, or you can request that a copy be mailed to you by calling 217.786.2278.

The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, campus police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Lincoln Land Community College; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

This information is required by law and is provided by the Lincoln Land Community College Police Department.

LLCC celebrates 12th annual Multicultural Fest Oct. 7; volunteers still needed

LLCC is holding its 12th annual Multicultural Fest Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside A. Lincoln Commons. The annual Fest showcases various cultures with entertainment, samples of ethnic food and cultural exhibits. In addition to the festivities taking place on the Springfield campus, LLCC’s outreach locations will celebrate that week with the following activities.

LLCC-Litchfield, 1 Lincoln Land Drive
Monday, Oct. 5 · 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A henna artist will provide henna painting. Diversity information will be on display and students will have the opportunity to construct simple origami. Food from various cultures will be served.

LLCC-Taylorville, 800 S. Spresser
Tuesday, Oct. 6 · 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A henna artist will provide henna art painting. Diversity information will be on display and students will have the opportunity to construct simple origami. Cultural food will be served.

LLCC-Beardstown, 109 White Pine Lane
Wednesday, Oct. 7 · 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Entertainment includes an African drum presentation and dance, plus jazz and blues musician Robert Sampson will perform and provide a presentation on the history of jazz and blues. The event also includes a native dress fashion show. Cultural food served will include African, Chinese, French, German, Hispanic, Irish and Italian cuisines. Students will design poster boards with information about various ethnic groups.

LLCC-Jacksonville, 32 N. Central Park Plaza
Thursday, Oct. 8 · 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Entertainment and a presentation on the history of jazz and blues is being provided by Robert Sampson, jazz and blues musician. LLCC students will provide Mexican paper flower instruction and henna art hand painting. Ethnic food served will include Chinese, Indian, Irish, Italian and French cuisines.
