Springfield chapter of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs grows LLCC culinary scholarship fund

The Springfield chapter of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the oldest and largest food and wine society in the world, recently donated more than $2,000 to the LLCC Foundation to grow its hospitality management scholarship.

The scholarship fund provides $1,000 scholarships to two hospitality management students each year. A total of $24,750 has been awarded to 31 students since the establishment of the scholarship.

Dr. Charlotte Warren, president of LLCC, thanked the local chapter for its support of hospitality students. “These scholarships are lifechanging for students,” said Dr. Warren. “Our community depends on the local culinary and hospitality industries, and we are proud to provide them with talented and skilled employees.”

John Dale Kennedy, Bailli, Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Bailliage de Springfield, commented, “Our contribution to this scholarship fund allows students from all walks of life to come to LLCC and learn about food, hospitality and managing restaurants. We are happy to be a part of that. These LLCC hospitality and culinary graduates are a great asset for our community, and the payoff for Chaîne is a good one.”

LLCC offers degree and certificate programs in hospitality and culinary arts, along with a Culinary Institute featuring themed dinners and non-credit cooking and baking courses. Students learn in state-of-the-art culinary labs and practice their skills in Bistro Verde, LLCC’s  student-led café.
