Talkspace for LLCC students

Any given year, one in five adults experience a mental health issue. The good news is professional support can change lives, and innovation is making access to mental health treatment more convenient than ever.

In December, we announced that we would be making some changes to our counseling services. This week we are kicking off a partnership with Talkspace, global leader in online therapy. With a network of thousands of licensed clinicians, Talkspace is an online therapy service that connects LLCC students to a dedicated, licensed therapist from a secure, HIPAA-compliant mobile app and web platform. LLCC students can access one free 30-minute live video session each month as well as unlimited text, voice or video messages with their Talkspace therapist. Students can go to talkspace.com/llcc to get started with a keyword (emailed to their LLCC email and is also available on Blackboard/Canvas/LLCC Connect).

We hope you will share this information with your students. Please note that this means we will no longer be providing onsite personal clinical counseling services, and will refer students to community agencies and Talkspace. If you or your students have questions about Talkspace, you can go to talkspace.com/faq/llcc or reach out to success@llcc.edu.

Cooperative Work Experience program

Are you familiar with the Cooperative Work Experience program (co-op) at LLCC? Cathy Huffman, career development professional, in LLCC Career Services shares this quick look at the program and reminds students there is time to apply for co-op for the upcoming Short Semester. Please share with students who may need CWE 101 or electives for their associate degree. This information can also be found at www.llcc.edu/co-op.

Device loan process

Students desiring to have a loaned laptop and/or Wi-Fi hotspot need to schedule a meeting with their assigned student success coach. The student success coach will conduct an interview and submit relevant information into an application form. Once the form is submitted, it is reviewed by the vice president, student services. Students approved for a device(s) will receive an email from the VPSS indicating they have been approved and instructions for pick-up of the device.

Extended hours for spring registration and virtual assistance

The spring 2020 semester begins Saturday, Jan. 9, and weekday classes begin Monday, Jan. 11. Student Success is offering virtual assistance hours where students can “drop in” via Zoom to ask questions about starting spring classes. LLCC Outreach Centers are open remotely during the following hours as well.

  • Friday, Jan. 8, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
