New submission steps for The Print Shop

The Print Shop has a new web-based submission process that is available for immediate use. For detailed steps, please see the  instructional video and/or pdf documentation on the Faculty & Staff Specialized ITS Training page of the My LLCC Portal. Information is also available at the ITS Services, FAQ’s web page, expand question 4.

LLCC website wins national award

The LLCC website was honored as a silver winner in the third annual Education Digital Marketing Awards sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report based in Atlanta, Ga. The LLCC website is a collaborative effort of the Public Relations and Marketing (PRM) office and Information and Telecommunications Systems (ITS).

Network downtimes over mid-semester break

ITS will be performing computer network maintenance during mid-semester break. The downtimes below have been tentatively scheduled and no network or web services will be available during these times.

  • Sunday 3/6 – 9-10 p.m.
  • Tuesday 3/8 – 3-4 p.m.
  • Thursday 3/10 – 3-5 p.m.

Office 365 ProPlus free to LLCC students

Microsoft is offering Office 365 ProPlus to LLCC students for free. An announcement will be going out to students this week.

Office 365 ProPlus is a full version of Office. The programs have the same features and functionality as other versions of Office. For example, Word in Office 365 ProPlus works the same way it does in Office Standard 2013.

Office 365 ProPlus includes: Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, InfoPath, OneDrive for Business, OneNote, Publisher and Skype for Business. Continue reading

Network maintenance early Saturday morning

ITS will perform network maintenance Saturday from 12 a.m.-2 a.m. All network services will be affected during this maintenance window. This includes Blackboard, email, phone service and the LLCC website.

Partial computer network and phone outage Friday in Menard Hall, 2nd floor

Due to necessary maintenance work, there will be no computer network connectivity in offices and classrooms adjacent to the north, east and middle hallways of the second floor of Menard Hall on Friday, Sept. 25 (Institutional Improvement Day). Computers in affected locations will be unable to connect to the computer network (no access to network folders, email, Internet etc.) Also, phones in affected areas will not be operational.

File server maintenance begins Saturday at 1 p.m.

We will be performing maintenance on our file server starting this Saturday at 1 p.m.. The maintenance is required in order to fully restore the server from this week’s failure. The server is expected to be unavailable through Sunday.

The file server is the only service that will be affected during the maintenance window. All other services will remain accessible (website, WebAdvisor, email, Blackboard, etc.)

Skype meeting function in Outlook now available

You can now schedule a conference call with multiple individuals, both internally and externally of LLCC by using the Skype meeting function in Outlook (not web-based email). When you set up a Skype meeting, a dial-in telephone number and passcode will automatically generate. This will replace the TurboBridge audio conferencing steps that were previously used.

Steps to access: 1. Open Outlook 2. Click on Calendar 3. Click on New Skype Meeting 4. Add the recipients in the To… box. This may be any email address. 5. Enter all pertinent information. Join Skype meeting information will be shown within the calendar appointment. Should you experience any technical difficulties, contact the ITS Service Desk at ext. 62555.
