The spring 2015 FORWARD is now available. If you would like a single print copy, stop by the Information Desk in A. Lincoln Commons. Bundles of FORWARDs are available near the mailroom in the lower level of Menard Hall. FORWARD will also be mailed to all households in the district. To read FORWARD online, click HERE.

Thank you to those who helped with Rochester 6th Grade Tours!

The PRM staff would like thank everyone who assisted in any way with the nearly 180 Rochester 6th graders who visited campus Thursday.

During a special presentation, the LLCC Chemistry Club and Law Enforcement Assistant Professor Randy Rue wowed the students with demonstrations highlighting classes and programs at LLCC. Mary Beth Ray, director of Career Development Services, talked to the students about “Finding Their Future” and how to make wise decisions when choosing a career.

Following the presentation, students toured the Workforce Careers Center and the Nursing and Emergency Services areas.

Faculty and staff providing information to students included Jay Kitterman, Cynthia Maskey, Janice Badgett, Bob Howard, Nancy Sweet, Jolene Adams, Julie Rourke, Dan Sheedy, Dave Green, Keven Tait, Jim Betts, Bob Andrews, Leon Williams, Bill Harmon, Nick Ferreira.

As students heard from faculty and staff about various careers and programs, they enjoyed mini cupcakes made by the Culinary Arts program, popcorn from a popper fueled with solar energy and soda/ice made in the HVAC department. They also experienced honking the horn in a semi-truck and got some Kodak moments in the Jaguar and go-cart in the automotive area.

 

This Week at LLCC

Many activities will be going on throughout the week to kick off the fall semester!

Welcome tables have been set up in A. Lincoln Commons, Millennium Center, Logan Hall and Workforce Careers Center for students to pick up maps and planners.  Volunteers also will be helping students find classes and answering questions at the tables in A. Lincoln Commons and Workforce Careers Center.

Student Life is hosting daily Welcome Week Activities in A. Lincoln Commons.  Visit their website to see the schedule.

Employees and students will be able to stop by the Police Department in Sangamon Hall anytime between 8 a.m – 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday or 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday to sign up for LLCC Connect.

The Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room.  Click HERE to view the agenda, which included minutes from previous meeting.Also on Wednesday, there will a French Club bake sale in the Student Union, 7:30-11:30 a.m.

ITDE is hosting a Beginning Blackboard Workshop in Sangamon 0119, 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday and a Blackboard Open Lab in Sangamon 0119, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday.  Register for these and few the entire ITDE Workshop schedule HERE.

Updated Communication and Marketing Guidelines available

The college’s Communication and Marketing Guidelines have been updated and are available on the PRM portal HERE. The guidelines cover social media, crisis communication, media relations, the PRM project request form, advertising, promotional materials, LincIn and more.

In preparation for new website design, please check and make any needed updates to webpages by Monday

If you are a content manager for a webpage on the college’s website, www.llcc.edu, please check your pages and make any necessary updates by Monday, July 28. We are preparing for the launch of a new website design in early fall. We will be copying the content of current webpages as of Tuesday, July 29. Please make sure yours is updated with current information!

If you need to make changes to your webpages after Monday, July 28, please email those edits to Rose Raikes in PRM.

Training meetings for content managers, and preview sessions of the new website design for everyone, will be scheduled in late August-early September, prior to the launch of the new website design.

The Public Relations & Marketing Office posts a monthly addendum for the LLCC Directory to keep the campus informed of updates throughout the year.  The JUNE addendum has been posted and can be viewed by clicking HERE or visiting the PRM Portal Page and looking under Shared Documents.

LLCC participates in Medical Jobs Forum

LLCC healthcare and recruitment representatives participated in a Medical Jobs Forum sponsored by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce and Faith Coalition for the Common Good Monday evening, June 30 at Union Baptist Church. Approximately 85 individuals attended to hear presentations and meet with healthcare employers and training providers.  Representing LLCC were Cynthia Maskey, dean of health professions; Ruth Bixby, director, occupational therapy assistant program; Janelle Murphy, director, radiography program; Janice Lovekamp, director, surgical tech program; Laurel Bretz, program coordinator, Capital City Training Center, along with CCTC instructors Sophia Herring, phlebotomy and Stephanie Hale, pharmacy tech; and Mac Warren, assistant director, and Lynn Whalen, executive director, public relations and marketing.

Thanks from PRM

Thanks to all who participated at the Campus Visit Day event Tuesday, June 17. Also, a special thanks to all who helped with set-up or assisted in any way with preparations. We greatly appreciate everyone’s support with this significant recruitment event.

We had a total attendance of 200 guests with 95 of those being prospective students—66 traditional and 29 non-traditional. We received some very positive feedback from our guests.

The next Campus Visit Day event is being held Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 (Columbus Day).

Thank you Welcome Week Volunteers

Thank you to all the Welcome Week volunteers who greeted and assisted students in the A. Welcome Week Volunteers Needed
