Reminder: Planned power outage June 30

As part of our continuing effort to upgrade the college facilities, an eight-hour planned electrical power outage will be conducted on Friday morning, June 30, that will affect Sangamon and Menard halls. While we will be providing temporary power for several of the most vital needs, all of Sangamon Hall and most of Menard Hall will be without any electrical power for the duration of this outage. ITS advises all staff to turn off their computers before leaving on Thursday, June 29.

The following services will not be affected by this outage:
  • Phone service
  • Colleague and WebAdvisor
  • Website and public sites
  • Cloud resources (Office 365, Blackboard, email, etc.)
We appreciate your patience as we coordinate this necessary operation.

Changes to Fitness Center operations Aug. 1

For operational efficiency, beginning Aug. 1, 2017, use of the LLCC Fitness Center will be available to LLCC students enrolled in physical conditioning classes, students in athletic programs, and LLCC faculty and staff who have paid the user fee. The Fitness Center will no longer be open to the public.

Hours of operation may vary from semester to semester in order to accommodate classes. Hours will be posted at the beginning of each semester in LincIn and at the Fitness Center entry. For the time being, there will be no open sessions in Cass Gym. Alternatives are being explored for future semesters.

Faculty and staff wishing to use the Fitness Center will sign up each semester through Registration as usual. Also, in December, employees may sign up for a yearlong membership through the Human Resources office.

View “Chasing Dr. Who” exhibit through Thursday

If you have not yet seen “Chasing Dr. Who,” a photography exhibit by Christine Samoore, you can do so through June 29 in the James S. Murray Gallery, located on the second floor of Menard Hall. The photos feature landmarks from the British show, “Dr. Who,” and also serve as individual studies of architecture and composition. Samoore is co-owner of Prairie Custom Frames in Springfield, and you can often find her interpreting in American Sign Language in classrooms at LLCC.
