ALL summer kickoff today

LLCC’s Academy of Lifelong Learning is showcasing learning opportunities for those ages 50 and older at its summer kickoff today from 1-3 p.m. in the Trutter Center. The event is free and open to the public, and registration is requested by calling 217-786-2432. (Current ALL members should register on WebAdvisor via the “My LLCC” tab at www.llcc.edu or by calling 217-786-2292.)

Jennifer Gill, superintendent of schools, Springfield Public School District #186, is speaking at the event. With a theme of “back to school,” attendees are encouraged to bring a school supply to donate to District #186. The event also includes games, a book exchange, desserts and beverages.

Academy of Lifelong Learning Winter Celebration TODAY

The LLCC Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) invites the public to its Winter Celebration, “The Beach is a State of Mind,” today, Friday, Jan. 29. The free event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Trutter Center. Attendees do not have to be ALL members to attend. Registration for the event is available by calling 786.2432.

Each year, the Academy of Lifelong Learning hosts a special event to help seniors enjoy learning even with the onset of cold weather. This year, the group will combat the temperature by imagining themselves on a beach, with live music by Flip Flop Dave, a potluck, activities and prizes for best beach attire and best beach hat.
