LLCC was In the (TV) News three times Oct. 16! WICS did a story on the Rochester 6th graders’ visit to LLCC and tour of the Workforce Careers Center. Lynn Whalen, executive director, PRM, was interviewed, along with the Rochester Intermediate School principal and a student. WICS also did a profile of the LLCC Volleyball team and interviewed Coach Jim Dietz and player Samantha Voils. And, WAND TV was on campus interviewing students about the government shutdown. Featured in the story were students Donald Klump, T.J. Wooford and Chadwick Taylor.
Steve Bryant, workforce specialist, was interviewed for an Oct. 18 article in the Litchfield News Herald about the free weatherization training program being offered at LLCC-Litchfield.
Public Relations and Marketing hosted nearly 200 6th graders from Rochester Intermediate School Oct. 16 for a presentation on academic programs in Cass Gym and tour of the Workforce Careers Center. The students enjoyed honking the horn of a semi, eating popcorn from a machine run by solar power, drinking slushies in the HVAC lab, posing for photos in the Auto Lab’s Jaguar, and other activities. The PRM staff would like to extend its sincere appreciation to all faculty and staff who participated in or helped with the Campus Visit Day event held Monday. More than 300 guests attended the day and evening sessions. The morning session evaluation data is in, and of those students that returned evaluations, 40% said they are definitely coming to LLCC and 45% are currently visiting colleges; 69% rated the event excellent and 31% rated it good. The majority of the students that attended plan to begin college in fall or spring 2014, with several students stating an anticipated start date as 2015, 2016 or 2017.
The next Campus Visit Day is being held Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 (Presidents Day).
The Career Development Services Silent Auction begins today, running from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Oct. 17-18 in the Robert H. Stephens Room. This year every bidder will be given a number to use when they place their bids. Only Career Development staff will know who is assigned which number. No more worries about outbidding your friends or boss!
The Epicurean Club will be selling stocks, soups, and sauces on Oct. 22, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm and Oct. 24, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm. The stocks, soups and sauces will be frozen and that recipes will be provided with the stocks and sauces.
Phi Theta Kappa will be holding a “Pink and Jeans Day” on October 24th to benefit Susan G. Komen Foundation. Make sure you stop by the Student Life Office before Thursday with $5 to purchase your pin to wear on that day along with your pink and jeans.
Free Family Concert on Friday, Oct. 25th! Bring the kids for a free Family Concert featuring Istvan and His Imaginary Band at the Trutter Center at 6:30 p.m. Istvan has an irresistible mix of interactive rock ‘n’ roll, country, pop punk and sing-alongs that get heads bobbing.”

Registration closes at noon today for the wellness screenings to be held in the Trutter Center on Thursday from 6:30AM to 11:00AM. Please see attached for screening and registration details. WICS visited LLCC-Jacksonville for a story Oct. 15 on the Silent Witness display there, sponsored by the Crisis Center of Jacksonville.
The Silent Auction to benefit the Career Development Services emergency student fund is this Thursday and Friday and has more items than ever! Volunteers are needed to help with set up on Wednesday. Please contact Career Development Services (6.2210) if you can spare some time Wednesday. (You’ll also get a sneak preview of all the great donations!)
