Michelle Burger (student events coordinator) and her husband Matthew welcomed a baby girl, Maevyn Michelle on March 21st at 3:28pm. She weighed 6lbs 11oz. and was 19 inches long. She is greatly adored by her siblings: Madigan, Marlow and Mathis.
Local Yellow Pages Phonebooks Available
There are new Springfield Yellow Pages phonebooks in the back hall of lower level Menard. Faculty and staff are welcome to pick up a new phonebook and leave their old one to be recycled.

Penny Wars is Here!
The Foundation has decorated its Penny Wars container using the theme “Gnome Together”. All departments are invited to participate in this fun, friendly competition to benefit LLCC Foundation’s Pay It Forward Fund. All you have to do is get a container from the Foundation office and start collecting pennies. Decorate your container if you wish and bring it the LEAGUE Luncheon on Tuesday, March 25 in the Student Union where additional pennies can be added or your opponents can sabotage your efforts by adding coins and paper currency your container. Don’t miss all the fun! Get in on the action!
Commencement Reminders
Please remind students that they need to apply for graduation (it’s not automatic) … and if they also would like to walk in commencement, regalia may be purchased from the Bookstore. The only cost for commencement is $20, which includes cap/gown/tassel and 10 complimentary announcements. Please encourage students to celebrate their achievements!
Nominations for 2014 commencement student speaker are due TODAY by 5 p.m.! If you would like to nominate a student, click HERE for instructions and an application to fill out and return to Room 1255 in Menard Hall. Nominees must have completed graduation requirements at the end of summer term 2013, fall semester 2013 or be candidates for graduation at the end of spring semester 2014 or summer term 2014. All nominated students need to have their speech ready to audition on Friday, April 4 from 2-3 p.m. in Menard Hall, room 2219.

6th annual Walk Your Way to Wellness Challenge begins soon!
Get your 5-person team together today!! The 4-week walking challenge will begin Monday, March 31. This year’s challenge is strictly a walking challenge. Only miles walked by team members will be considered for the team challenge. Runners will be placed in a separate individual challenge. Prizes will be given away for individual and team winners. PRAIRIE BURNS ON SPRINGFIELD CAMPUS
LLCC will be conducting controlled burns on the prairie areas of campus over the next few weeks, weather permitting. The burns will be conducted on the upper prairie on the north side of Menard Hall, on the south and west sides of the Workforce Careers Center and on both sides of the entrance to campus.
The controlled burns are a coordinated effort of LLCC’s Facilities Services department, biology classes and the LLCC Environmental Club. The burns have been approved by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
