Reminder of summer Subway hours
A reminder that Subway will be closed next week – Tuesday, May 27 through Thursday May 29 (we are closed Monday for Memorial Day). Hours for the rest of summer are as follows:
- Week of June 2: Open 8:00am to 1:00pm.
- Weeks June 9 – Aug 2: Open 8:00am to 3:00pm
7th Annual Brian McMillen Memorial Run/Walk this weekend!
The 7th Annual Brian McMillen Memorial Run/Walk will take place this Saturday, May 24, 2013 at 8 a.m. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with various duties such as set up on Friday, May 23 or staffing the water station stop, registration table, food table, etc. Saturday, Mary 24, please contact Alison Mills at alison.mills@llcc.edu or 786-2275.
The LLCC Veterans Club established the Brian McMillen Scholarship to honor Brian’s legacy and to provide financial support to veterans attending LLCC. Proceeds from the 7th Annual Brian McMillen Memorial Run/Walk support the LLCC Brian McMillen Veterans Scholarship and other projects and charities.
New Digital Letterhead Available
Following the seating of the new Student Trustee, Jefferson Gentry, new letterhead has been created. Digital versions are available now on the PRM Portal; click on the first item under “Announcements.” Hard copy letterhead is expected to be delivered within two weeks, at which point an announcement will be made about where you can pick some up.
Andrew Dewey’s Commencement Speech receives standing ovation
2014 Commencement Speaker Andrew Dewey shared his story of how LLCC gave him a new life after he hit rock bottom. His speech drew a standing ovation from the crowd at Commencement Friday, May 16. Loggers reach National Tournaments
Congratulations to the LLCC softball team on their 7th place finish in the NJCAA Div. II National Tournament! The Loggers finished the season 52-16. The 2014 Loggers set a school record with the most games (68), home runs (52) and runs scored (572).
The Loggers baseball team won the Region 24 tourney Monday! LLCC went 4-0 to advance to the NJCAA Division II World Series by defeating DACC 7- 6 in the championship game. LLCC will play Hinds Community College on Saturday at 4 pm in Enid, Oklahoma. All games in the tournament may be watched live at NJCAA.org. Good luck!
Ron Riggle has been named Coach of the Year for Region 24 of the NJCAA. This is his second time to win the award; the last time was in 2004. Way to go, Ron!
Cass Gym closed rest of week; no open gym
Cass Gym will be closed the rest of this week due to installation of new backboards.
Congratulations Amber Berman and Student United Way!
Amber Berman, program assistant, Student Life Office, has been awarded the Campus Advisor of the Year award from United Way Worldwide. The announcement read: “Congratulations! We were incredibly impressed with the work you’re doing at Lincoln Land Community College. Amber Berman’s leadership and support has created huge opportunities for her students to LIVE UNITED on campus and in the community. For that reason, we’ve awarded her Campus Advisor of the year.
“By winning this award, you’ve proven yourself a leader in the Student United Way network. We will continue to rely on you and support you for future learning opportunities and you will be eligible for mini grants through United Way Worldwide that are not available to the rest of the network.”
