Loggers reach National Tournaments

Congratulations to the LLCC softball team on their 7th place finish in the NJCAA Div. II National Tournament! The Loggers finished the season 52-16. The 2014 Loggers set a school record with the most games (68), home runs (52) and runs scored (572).

baseball regional champsThe Loggers baseball team won the Region 24 tourney Monday! LLCC went 4-0 to advance to the NJCAA Division II World Series by defeating DACC 7- 6 in the championship game. LLCC will play Hinds Community College on Saturday at 4 pm in Enid, Oklahoma. All games in the tournament may be watched live at NJCAA.org. Good luck!

Ron Riggle has been named Coach of the Year for Region 24 of the NJCAA. This is his second time to win the award; the last time was in 2004. Way to go, Ron!

Congratulations Amber Berman and Student United Way!

Amber Berman, program assistant, Student Life Office, has been awarded the Campus Advisor of the Year award from United Way Worldwide. The announcement read: “Congratulations! We were incredibly impressed with the work you’re doing at Lincoln Land Community College. Amber Berman’s leadership and support has created huge opportunities for her students to LIVE UNITED on campus and in the community. For that reason, we’ve awarded her Campus Advisor of the year.

“By winning this award, you’ve proven yourself a leader in the Student United Way network. We will continue to rely on you and support you for future learning opportunities and you will be eligible for mini grants through United Way Worldwide that are not available to the rest of the network.”

Congratulations Colleen Pittman!

MadelineColleen Pittman, Public Relations and Marketing assistant, and her husband Daniel are parents of a baby girl, Madeline Clare Pittman, born Friday, May 16 at 8:47 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 inches long. Congratulations!

 

 

Mary Bonn, former PRM student worker, is currently stationed at the Information Desk during Colleen’s maternity leave. Welcome back, Mary!

This week at LLCC

Today, May 20, there is a New Student Orientation at 5:30 p.m. beginning in the R.H. Stephens Room.

Wednesday, there will be a Starting Your Business in Illinois Workshop in Montgomery Hall, room 1144 at 1:30 p.m., as well as an ASAP Information Session at 5:30 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room.

Parking lots 9 and 11 closed today

Parking lots 9 and 11 on the east side of the Millennium Center are closed today for set-up of the Girls on the Run event being held on campus tomorrow. The lots will be open again Monday.

LLCC Commencement tonight-line of march updated

Commencement 2014 will be held at the Prairie Capital Convention Center this evening, May 16, beginning at 7:30 p.m.  Faculty/Administrators should arrive by 7 p.m. Information as well as an updated line of march are attached below.  Please note that there will be NO coat/purse check available.  In addition, the Komen Race for the Cure and other events will also be taking place Friday night downtown Springfield.  Please plan accordingly for additional traffic and limited parking.  Thank you!
