KUDOS nominations due March 16

The next KUDOS awards announcement is coming soon! Please submit nominations for a deserving colleague by Wednesday, March 16. Click on the KUDOS tab in the upper right corner of LincIn for the form.

The KUDOS award is an informal way to recognize the small and large ways our faculty and staff contribute to the positive environment that is LLCC. Brighten someone’s day and say “thank you, great job!” with a KUDOS.

50 Acts of Service for our 50th Anniversary

A committee is being formed to help LLCC celebrate our 50th Anniversary and our goal of this committee is to provide 50 Acts of Service throughout LLCC territory (including Outreach Centers). To help us get started, we want to know what we (students and employees) are already doing? Please send these “acts of service” to Jamie Stout at jamie.stout@llcc.edu by Wednesday, March 16. Also, please contact Jamie if you are interested in joining the committee. Our first meeting will be towards the end of the month. Thanks in advance!

A note from Facilities Services

In an effort to avoid unnecessary inconveniences, Facilities Services would like to remind all faculty and staff that the College is officially closed, as posted on the academic calendar, from Saturday, March 5, through Sunday, March 13, for mid-semester break. To conserve resources when the college is closed, normal building temperatures are not maintained, lighting levels are at a minimum and access to buildings may be restricted. Snow and ice removal is also limited to priority routes.

One of several maintenance projects planned for this time is the re-finishing of most of the first floor hallway tile in Menard Hall. Access to this area will be limited for the duration of the break.

We encourage anyone needing to visit the college over mid-semester break to contact the LLCC Police Department at 622-3853. As always, your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated and we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break.

Green Center to host 13th annual Composting Symposium & Homegrown Fest March 19

LLCC’s Green Center is hosting the first Homegrown Fest and 13th annual Central Illinois Composting Symposium Saturday, March 19 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Workforce Careers Center. Registrations are being accepted now.

The two events bring together community members to explore topics related to food and gardening with leaders in the field through interactive educational programs. “We are excited to combine the Homegrown Fest with the Composting Symposium for the first time this year to offer an expansive selection of learning opportunities that cover the full sustainable food cycle from growing to cooking and eating, to then returning those nutrients back to the soil and growing more healthy food,” says Marnie Record, workforce specialist at LLCC.  Read more.
