Leadership professional development

The Oxford dictionary defines leadership as “the action of leading a group of people or an organization.” Leadership is not a title; it is an action.

During the summer months we will focus on resources and events to support leadership development for all staff who are interested in these topics regardless of their title.  The summer provides a great opportunity for all staff to concentrate some time on their own development, and many of the skills found in leadership training are useful in both our professional and personal lives.

Supervisors are encouraged to identify staff within their areas that they believe would benefit from these offerings and to discuss developing our leaders going forward. Better yet, supervisors are encouraged to take part in these resources and to bring a staff or two along for the opportunity.

Is it possible to make a decision without emotion?

This course explores this question, by looking at our ability to recognize and understand emotions in ourselves and others.  Along with our ability to use this awareness to manage our behavior and relationships in the workplace.
