Registration is now open for classes in solar photovoltaics and solar site assessor training offered by the Workforce Institute at LLCC. The classes involve online coursework followed by an in-person, on-campus lab in December.
Introduction to Solar Photovoltaics covers the basics of solar electricity, how photovoltaic systems work, identifying necessary components, evaluating the solar window, investigating energy efficiency recommendations and researching systems costs. The course involves approximately eight hours of online coursework and a two-hour face-to-face lab the morning of Dec. 11. Cost is $135.
Site Assessor Training is an approximately 10-hour online course demonstrating how to perform a PV site assessment for a home or small business. Topics covered include load profiles and consumption history, energy efficiency and fuel switching opportunities, site-specific shade analysis and client financing options. It is followed by an in-person, on-campus lab the afternoon of Dec. 11. Cost is $195.
