Professor Leslie Stalter’s 3D art class created outdoor art for Earth Day which will remain in place “for as long as it lasts, dependent on weather conditions.” Students were tasked with making an “Andy Goldsworthy project.” Professor Stalter says, “Andy Goldsworthy is a famous land artist. He uses only available natural materials in his surrounding landscape to make his art pieces. He uses the existing colors and textures of these objects and simple rules of design to draw attention to features in the natural world. The class was directed to come up with their own Andy Goldsworthy idea using only the natural resources available outside of Sangamon Hall. Which fortunately are plentiful!”
The class installed the artwork on the campus grounds yesterday. For a guide to the art, click below.
