Join us today for a special African-American History Month Soup & Stories: “NAACP – Walk from the Past to the Present,” 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Robert H. Stephens Room, Menard Hall. $3 or free to students with ID. Presenter is Teresa Haley, elected president of Illinois NAACP Chapter, who will discuss the history of the NAACP.
Also, the Black Student Union would like to thank everyone who participated in the jean day held February 4, 2016. The money collected will be given to the Springfield Urban League to help support their HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives.
The theme for this year’s observance is “Embracing Our Past, Reinforcing the Present and Providing Hope for the Future.” Events are co-sponsored by the LLCC African-American History Month Committee and Student Life Office.
