LLCC is holding its 12th annual Multicultural Fest Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside A. Lincoln Commons. The annual Fest showcases various cultures with entertainment, samples of ethnic food and cultural exhibits. In addition to the festivities taking place on the Springfield campus, LLCC’s outreach locations will celebrate that week with the following activities.
LLCC-Litchfield, 1 Lincoln Land Drive
Monday, Oct. 5 · 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A henna artist will provide henna painting. Diversity information will be on display and students will have the opportunity to construct simple origami. Food from various cultures will be served.
LLCC-Taylorville, 800 S. Spresser
Tuesday, Oct. 6 · 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A henna artist will provide henna art painting. Diversity information will be on display and students will have the opportunity to construct simple origami. Cultural food will be served.
LLCC-Beardstown, 109 White Pine Lane
Wednesday, Oct. 7 · 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Entertainment includes an African drum presentation and dance, plus jazz and blues musician Robert Sampson will perform and provide a presentation on the history of jazz and blues. The event also includes a native dress fashion show. Cultural food served will include African, Chinese, French, German, Hispanic, Irish and Italian cuisines. Students will design poster boards with information about various ethnic groups.
LLCC-Jacksonville, 32 N. Central Park Plaza
Thursday, Oct. 8 · 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Entertainment and a presentation on the history of jazz and blues is being provided by Robert Sampson, jazz and blues musician. LLCC students will provide Mexican paper flower instruction and henna art hand painting. Ethnic food served will include Chinese, Indian, Irish, Italian and French cuisines.
