SGA and LAB honored recently

The Student Government Association and Logger Activities Board were honored recently at the Illinois Community College Student Activities Association (ICCSAA) annual Fall Student Leadership Conference held in Godfrey.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Logger Activities Board was recognized with the Creative Marketing Award. The award recognizes creative and low-cost promotional efforts planned and implemented by students. The Logger Activities Board received the award for its promotion of the “Showoff Your Culture!” and “Zombie Apocalypse Survival” activities held on campus earlier this fall. LLCC Logger Activities Board members include: Emily Tomlin of Cantrall; Morgan DeLuka of Nokomis; Conor Ford, Austin Friedmeyer and Emmanuel Olaoye of Springfield.

The Student Government Association (SGA) was awarded the Ed Snyder Merit Book Award for 2013-2014.  The award recognizes assistance to other clubs and organizations, student leadership training, community service and governance. The SGA was recognized for its month-long awareness campaigns for breast cancer, autism, and hunger and homelessness; health events; the angel tree activity to collect items for the Central Illinois Foodbank and its “Espresso Yourself” activity, in which students provided ideas for the SGA to act on in exchange for a hot beverage and breakfast treat.
