Child Development Center earns NAEYC accreditation

LLCC’s Child Development Center has earned continuing accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest organization working on behalf of young children.

NAEYC accreditation is a rigorous quality-improvement system that uses a set of 10 research-based standards to recognize and drive quality-improvement in high-quality early learning environments. Less than 10% of all childcare centers, preschools and kindergartens nationally achieve this recognition.

“We’re proud to have again earned the mark of quality from NAEYC and are committed to serve as a model of best practice in the field of early childhood education for children, families and the community,” said Laurie Rhodes, director of the LLCC Child Development Center.

“We are excited that we passed with a 99.05% rate and received an above average rating on our classroom and program portfolios. Classroom observations received a 100% score. These are exceptional scores as we only needed 80% to pass.   Accreditation is not the work of one team member alone. Every single person on staff had a part in putting together portfolios and meeting standards during the classroom observation period. Kudos to each and every one of our staff.”

The center, which has been accredited through NAEYC since 1995, serves children ages 15 months until entry to kindergarten, offering childcare to LLCC students and community members while serving as a model teaching lab for students. The LLCC Child Development Center wants to give a big thank you to our college community for answering the call for boxes! April 6 was Work Together Wednesday, and your donations helped us fill our Gross Motor Room. I wish you could have seen how the children’s eyes lit up to see this sight! They truly worked together to build some amazing box structures.

Thank you from the Child Development Center

As we teach the children to Be Kind. Picture of bumble bee.The LLCC Child Development Center thanks all who participated for their kindness in donating pajamas for the Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery, a non-profit social service agency. We will be delivering two boxes of pajamas to Mini O’Beirne, which provides emergency care for infants and children from birth through age six. It will brighten the face of a young child to receive a gently used or new set of pajamas. These pajamas will meet the needs of the children while they are at the crisis nursery. Any extra donations are given back to the community through their basic need’s pantry.
