SGA sponsoring annual Angel Tree

The LLCC Student Government Association is sponsoring the annual Angel Tree to spread joy and cheer to local senior residents of Capitol Retirement Village. Students, faculty and staff are invited to take an angel from the holiday tree located in A. Lincoln Commons and purchase a gift for the resident named on the angel tag. The angels will be available for pick-up on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Gifts can be returned to LLCC Student Life with the angel tag included by Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Honors program selling donuts today

The LLCC Honors Program student organization is selling Krispy Kreme donuts today in A. Lincoln Commons from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Donuts are $6 per boxed dozen, and you can pay with cash or check (made out to “LLCC”).  This is our last sale of 2017! Proceeds help defray the cost of travel for honors program students who attend the annual Chicago Museums Day Trip in Spring 2018.

Student Radiographer Association selling popcorn

The LLCC Student Radiographer Association (SRA) is selling Double Good popcorn to help raise funds for an upcoming student conference. Available flavors include Little Kettle That Could, In a Caramel Nutshell, My Main Cheese, Easy Peasy Caramel Cheesy, In Queso Fire and more. Package options range from snack bags to signature gift tins. View all the available flavors, package options and prices.

Food pantry needs your help to restock shelves

The LLCC Food Pantry needs your help to restock its shelves. All faculty and staff are encouraged to bring an item from the list below to today’s fall 2017 Professional Development Day luncheon.

The items listed below are either out-of-stock or highly desired at this time. All food items must not be expired and single serve/individual portion items are preferred. To learn more about the food pantry, please contact LLCC Student Life by visiting the office located in the lower level of Menard Hall, calling 786-2241 or going to www.llcc.edu/food-pantry-list.

Food item donations:

  • Tuna/Chicken/Ham salad ready-to-eat kits
  • Easy peel opening cans of soup (microwave ready)
  • Ramen noodle cups (any flavor)
  • Ready-to-eat pasta meals (microwave ready)
  • Hormel complete meals
  • Trail mix
  • Fruit cups
  • Apple sauce
  • Jell-O or pudding cups
  • Cereal – single serving size
  • Breakfast bars
  • Oatmeal
  • Ready-to-eat rice meals
  • Juice (single servings like Juicy Juice)

Seasonal items (for upcoming holidays):

  • Cranberries
  • Green beans
  • Corn
  • Canned yams
  • Gift cards to grocery stores (Shop & Save, County Market, etc.)
  • Boxed mashed potatoes
  • Box stuffing

Soup & Stories on Native American Heritage Month Nov. 6

Native American Heritage Month posterLLCC Student Life and TRIO Student Support Services are hosting the Soup & Stories program, “Native American Heritage Month: Literature and Conversation,” today, Nov. 6, from noon-2 p.m. in the R.H. Stephens Room. Sheila Walk from the Springfield Area Arts Council will be reading an excerpt from the book, “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.” She will be accompanied by David Tell playing the Native American flute.

The program is open to the LLCC community, but geared toward the development of students. If faculty and staff are interested in attending there is just a $3 charge for the lunch.
