Soup and Stories: “The Red Road to Victory” today

The Red Road to VictoryLLCC Student Life and TRIO Student Support Services are hosting a reconciliation and diversity symposium, “The Red Road to Victory,” today from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons Lounge. This program features Bill Miller and is part of the Soup and Stories series for Native American Heritage Month.

The program is open to the LLCC community, but geared toward the development of students. If faculty and staff are interested in attending there is just a $3 charge for the lunch. If a faculty member brings their class to the program, they are able to eat for free!

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Nov. 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. The LLCC Gay-Straight Alliance is sponsoring an information table in A. Lincoln Commons today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. where you can learn more.

Games Club hosting book signing event

The LLCC Games Club is hosting a book signing event for LLCC student and novelist Benjamin Grafton tomorrow in A. Lincoln Commons from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. His novel is titled “Project M.E.R.C.” Ben will provide readings from the novel, and there will be a Q&A session. The signed copy of the book will be available for $10. Light refreshments will be provided.

Blood drive today

LLCC Student Life is hosting a blood drive today, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. in the student union, Menard Hall. Walk-ins are welcome! All donors please eat before donation and present a photo ID.

Thanks to participants in 22nd Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

LLCC Student Life would like to thank all who participated in Friday’s Veterans Day Ceremony, especially LLCC Board of Trustees Chair Dennis Shackelford, LLCC student veterans Lance Corporal Bobby Herpel and Corporal Nathaniel Mayfield, and the American Legion Post 759 Color Guard. Additionally, our thanks to the LLCC Student Life student workers for their help placing American flags around campus to honor our LLCC veterans. Their time and help the morning and afternoon of the event was greatly appreciated. We are also grateful to facilities staff for the wonderful setup, LLCC Epicurean Club for the delicious cupcakes, Subway for the coffee served at the Veterans Day reception and PRM for the invitations, fliers and programs.
