The LLCC Honors Program will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts today in A. Lincoln Commons from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Original glazed donuts will be available for $6 per dozen. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help the club pay for its Chicago trip. Payments can be made with cash or with checks payable to “LLCC.” Please consider purchasing a dozen … or two!

It’s never too late to get some goodies for that special someone! The LLCC Psychology Club is here to assist in providing those goodies on Feb. 21, from noon to 3 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. Stop by to buy some sweet treats for someone special, and take a poll to learn your love language.

There’s still time to sign up for the upcoming trivia night hosted by the LLCC Chemistry Club! It will take place on Friday, Feb. 23 in the student union located in the lower level Menard Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event runs from 7 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m.

Participants can sign up as part of a team or join a team when they arrive. Each team can have up to 10 members. The cost is $10 per person, and payment (cash or check) will be collected the night of the event. Checks should be made out to LLCC.

Topics will include English, history, general science and more. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners. Register for your seats online. Hope to see you there!

LLCC is celebrating African-American History Month during February with various events. The theme for this year’s observance is “Celebrating Our Strengths While Overcoming Our Challenges.”

Activities continue today with “A Tribute to Our Heroes,” an open mic event sponsored by the LLCC Black Student Union, 5-8 p.m., A. Lincoln Commons. Open mic night is a social event sponsored by the BSU where LLCC students and staff have a platform to openly express their voice and talents through poetry, singing, dance, instrumental solos and spoken word. Come showcase your talents and let your voice be heard!

Students are invited to attend “Don’t Fear the Future” transfer panel discussion on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. They will have the opportunity to engage with our faculty and staff panel, learning about their journey from a community college to a four-year college or university.

You can participate by wearing something that represents where you went to school! We encourage you to wear your college or university tie, sweatshirt, pin, etc.

Twelve LLLCCAgriculture Club members competed at the Illinois Postsecondary Agriculture Student (PAS) Organization spring conference held at LLCC Feb. 9. Students from seven community colleges and universities participated in contests designed to test their knowledge and readiness for their future careers.

The LLCC college bowl team won first place. This is the second year in a row that LLCC has had the winning college bowl team at the state conference. Austin Dennison also placed third individually in the ag education contest. In addition, one of LLCC’s soil specialist teams won second place, and the other took fifth place.

The teams will now travel to the National PAS Conference in Louisville, Ky. in March where they will compete against teams from 18 states. Read more.
