Today’s blood pressure checks and more HR events

LLCC nursing and medic students will be checking blood pressures in the lobby of the Trutter Center today, Feb. 15, from 9-11 a.m.

Join or provide your support for the Winded Warriors team in the Fight for Air Climb being held on Sunday, Feb. 26.

A presentation provided by the National Alliance on Mental Illinois (NAMI) titled “In Your Own Voice,” will be held on March 1 from 2-3 p.m. in the Trutter Center. LLCC nursing and medic students will again be checking blood pressures in the lobby of the Trutter Center on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 9-11 a.m.

As a reminder, there is still time to register for the Goal Setting Workshop being held on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 1-4 p.m. in Menard 1179. This workshop provides an introduction to setting goals for your future. The information may be used both professionally and in your personal life. By utilizing activities, the participant looks at how daily tasks can be utilized to accomplish lifelong goals. Contact Alan Pasley for further details.

Blood pressure checks today, 2-4 p.m.

LLCC nursing and medic students will be performing blood pressure screenings in the Trutter Center lobby today, Feb. 9, from 2-4 p.m. Stop by for a blood pressure check, pick up information pertaining to heart health and physical activity, and pick a healthy snack from the Wellness Wagon.

SURS onsite counseling March 22

LLCC Human Resources is excited to announce that the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) is beginning onsite counseling sessions this spring and will be on the LLCC campus on Wednesday, March 22, to provide individual counseling sessions to those who sign up and are eligible to retire within the next 10 years or less. Sessions are 45 minutes in length. If you would like to schedule one of these in person sessions, please follow the instructions attached to sign up for a time. Act quickly, as there are a limited number of spots available and on a first come, first served basis.

February Health and Wellness resources and opportunities

February is Heart Health Month

View the HR Portal’s Health and Wellness tab for heart health information including cholesterol facts and ways to care for your heart.

With high blood pressure being an important part of heart health, blood pressure checks will be offered to faculty and staff by the LLCC ADN and medic students throughout the month. Visit the Trutter Center lobby during one, or all, of the following sessions to learn about your blood pressure numbers, get heart health information and enjoy a wellness treat!

  • Thursday, Feb. 9, 2-4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 15, 9-11 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 21, 9-11 a.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 27, 1-3 p.m.

Another resource for Heart Health Month is the CDC’s campaign Live to the Beat. You can also watch the Live to the Beat educational videos featuring KevOnStage. Links to the first three episodes are available from the Health and Wellness tab.

Join the Fight For Air Climb, Feb. 26

Team Winded Warriors has been created to participate in the Fight For Air Climb on Sunday, Feb. 26, to benefit the American Lung Association. Anyone who would like to join the team can sign up or provide support through a donation, can visit Winded Warriors webpage. Register yet today for financial wellness session

As a reminder, all employees are invited to attend “Financial Wellness: Focusing on Your Future,” which will be held in the Trutter Center on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from noon to 1 p.m. This session will be presented by David Jones, CFP, financial advisor with VALIC Financial Advisors. Lunch will be provided. Attendees will also be entered to win a FREE massage provided by LLCC Massage Therapy. The last day to register for the Financial Wellness session is today, Feb. 3!

Thank you to those who attended the recent HR Open House.

As a reminder, the Health and Wellness portal page contains a Wellness Needs Survey for employees to request assistance with meeting wellness goals or requesting information. Additionally, the Check Up From the Neck Up flyer is available under the mental health resources tab for those who are interested. There is still time to register for the Financial Wellness session scheduled for Feb. 7 at noon in the Trutter Center.

Staff training and development employee survey

To gain a greater understanding of the professional development needs of the employees of LLCC, all staff are asked to complete an “Employee Needs Survey.” This survey gives you the chance to share what ideas you have for training, workshops, etc. that you think are needed for the staff of LLCC.

HR Open House today, 2-4 p.m.

LLCC Human Resources will be hosting an open house today, Jan. 24, from 2-4 p.m. in the Trutter Center. With some new faces, some reorganization of responsibilities and two new functional areas, we wanted to provide employees with an opportunity to meet the new people in our office and learn the new ways in which HR is serving you better. Stop by anytime during the above hours for an afternoon snack break and conversation. At 3 p.m., we will be doing a presentation regarding the new functions of training and development and health and wellness.
