There are two ways that faculty/staff can participate:

  1. Please share these opportunities with your students! Pass the link on to students and, if appropriate, we encourage you to find a way to include in your classes and programs.
  2. While you can’t win the gift cards, we hope you will take on a few of the virtual challenges. Our second challenge will have participants pledge to turn their awareness into action by posting their pledge on social media. We will also have a series of questions to help start the conversation with our community.

Look out for more details on our upcoming challenges! We will share them in LincIn.

View “Silent Witness” exhibit today, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sojourn Shelter & Services, in collaboration with LLCC Compliance and Prevention, is hosting the “Silent Witness” exhibit in A. Lincoln Commons today  from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibit is self-guided, so participants can come and leave at any time throughout the program. “Silent Witness” seeks to honor the lives of local domestic violence victims by shedding light on their stories. The exhibit serves as a reminder of why awareness of intimate partner violence is vital for the well-being of our community. We invite all students, staff and faculty to view the exhibit and carry the exhibit’s message with them as Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close.

Compliance and Prevention Office information and resources for a welcoming environment

LLCC is committed to providing a welcoming environment for all members of our campus community. As we begin a new academic year, the Office of Compliance and Prevention encourages all staff and faculty to review the following information and resources:

When meeting new people and working with new students,  allow individuals the opportunity to self-identify their name and pronouns. Using gender neutral pronouns (they, them, their) or someone’s chosen name in place of assigning pronouns based on your assumptions can prevent harmful situations of misgendering or “outing” a student. Remember that a student’s chosen name is used on WebAdvisor class rosters, and that it can be found within the “Pref Name” field in NAE in Colleague. More information and resources are found in this resource.

LLCC respects the identities of all individuals. As such, all staff and faculty are encouraged to familiarize themselves with LLCC’s nondiscrimination policy (1.6) and sexual harassment, other harassment, and discrimination policy (1.7). Contact Shelby Bedford, compliance and prevention coordinator, at shelby.bedford@llcc.edu for questions or complaints of discrimination/harassment, or to learn more.
