Dr. John Roberts honored with “emeritus” title

Dr. John RobertsThe LLCC Board of Trustees approved the conferring of the honorary title of “emeritus” upon LLCC’s longest serving faculty member at its Oct. 28 meeting. Dr. John Roberts, professor of history, was recommended for this honor by the Faculty Development and Recognition Committee of the Faculty Senate. Board policy permits the conferring of the honorary title “emeritus” upon a retired full-time faculty member based upon outstanding contributions from at least one of the following areas: teaching, participation and leadership in shared governance, service to the community, and advisor roles.

Dr. Roberts retired in 2018 after 48 years of service to LLCC. “John has not only forged a legacy that is legendary, but has cultivated relationships of warmth and trust that will endure for life,” said Dr. Victor Broderick, dean of social sciences, in Dr. Roberts’ retirement resolution. To commemorate Dr. Roberts’ service to LLCC, a tree was dedicated and a bench built by LLCC students was installed along the pathway to A. Lincoln Commons.
