Jacksonville Promise Scholarships awarded to six LLCC-Jacksonville students

Dr. Warren and Promise Scholarship recipientsSix LLCC-Jacksonville students were awarded 2017 Jacksonville Promise scholarships at an event Aug. 29 at Illinois College. Students are eligible for the scholarships of up to $2,000 to cover tuition and fees if they have attended grade school through high school in Jacksonville and choose to attend a local college. LLCC award recipients shown with Dr. Charlotte Warren, president, are Kiley Hutton, Maggie Howell, Cassie Huey, Mary Rose Prewitt and Henry Dahman. Jordan Hale was unable to attend. Cassie Huey was quoted in this Jacksonville Journal-Courier article about the event.

Deadline to submit artwork for LLCC’s “On My Own Time” exhibit is next week!

OMOT artFaculty and staff interested in participating in the Springfield Area Arts Council’s “On My Own Time” (OMOT) exhibit this year are reminded next Wednesday, Sept. 6 is the deadline to submit your artwork. This unique program offers LLCC faculty and staff the opportunity to display original art created outside the office.  Last year, seven LLCC employees had 10 pieces of art move on to the city-wide exhibit!

On My Own TimeFaculty and staff may each enter up to three artworks created since 2014 for $5 per entry fee. Artwork and registration forms and fees may be submitted to any of the LLCC coordinators (Misty, Judy or Janet).

The LLCC community is invited to an opening reception at the Trutter Museum on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 4-6 p.m. Rules, artwork entry and identification forms, as well as a detailed category list are attached.

Join the LEAGUE Committee

If you are interested in joining the fun by serving on the LEAGUE Committee to help plan the annual faculty and staff giving campaign, we would love to hear from you! The committee meets once a month and serves for two years. We ask the following of committee members:

  • Attend the one-hour monthly committee meetings (October – March).
  • Help the day of the kickoff luncheon on Tuesday, Mar. 29, 2018.
  • Make a contribution to the LEAGUE Campaign. The amount is entirely up to you. It can be $1 per pay period.

End-of-month deposits due Aug. 30 at noon

The deadline to submit your deposits to the LLCC Finance Department is today, Aug. 30, at noon. As a reminder, if you’ve taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to tthe LLCC Finance Department on a daily basis.

Please hand the deposit to Elyse Calhoun, Libby Elder or Robin Ackman as monies should not be left unattended.
