Michael Phelon, coordinator, Open Door program, was interviewed by WICS on the “I Am America” writer’s workshop co-sponsored Dec. 15 by Open Door and featuring 1998 LLCC graduate Antonio Neal, a Grammy nominated artist, along with his wife Shae. That evening, Antonio conducted a “Music and Conversation” event in A. Lincoln Commons.

Jay Kitterman, consultant, Culinary Institute, wrote the Epicuriosity 101 column, “Watch for these food trends in 2017,” for the Dec. 21 SJ-R.

Julie Rourke, director, workforce development; Lyn Buerkett, director, adult education and literacy; and Lynn Whalen, executive director, public relations and marketing, were interviewed for an upcoming story in the Springfield Business Journal. They answered questions about the HIRE education program and high school equivalency preparation offered at LLCC.

Catherine Wittler, vice president of the LLCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society, spoke on WTAX yesterday about tonight’s showing of the documentary “Miss Representation” at 6 p.m. in the Trutter Center. Everyone is invited to the showing and discussion following, with no admission charge.

David Bowman, workforce program development coordinator, Agricultural Watershed Management, appeared on WLDS “What’s on your mind” Dec. 5 to discuss new courses available at LLCC-Jacksonville and an upcoming information session. The new courses were also recently featured in Morning Ag Clips.
