Ryan Bailey and Ashley Lawrence named homecoming royalty

Ryan Bailey and Ashley Lawrence smallRyan Bailey and Ashley Lawrence were crowned the LLCC 2014 Homecoming King and Queen during the “Carnaval” homecoming dance Feb. 8.

Mr. Bailey, a geography major, is a pitcher for the LLCC Loggers baseball team and a member of Phi Theta Kappa academic honor society. He plans to transfer to a four-year university to continue his geography studies and baseball career.

Ms. Lawrence is pursuing an associate in science degree with plans to study veterinary medicine. She is a member of the Student Government Association, Loggers Activities Board, Student United Way and serves as a new student orientation leader.

Students were nominated for the homecoming court based on academic achievement, leadership and service, then selected by a vote of the student body. The homecoming court also included Tracy Johnson, Dylan Langiano, Virginia Moore, Jordan Roach, Austin Friedmeyer and Samuel Jackson.

Bistro Verde In the News!

Bistro Verde opening to the public was the headline story in the SJ-R’s A La Carte column on the business page Sunday, Feb. 9.

 A WICS story ran on Sunrise Thursday, Feb. 6.
This week, Nancy Sweet, culinary operations manager, will do a 10-minute interview on WMAY at 12:35 p.m. Monday (Business Focus) and WTAX at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday. Thursday “FOX SCENE” will film a segment during the lunch hours.

The cold winter weather means that the cold and flu season is in full swing. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, while similar,
colds and influenza are two different respiratory illnesses.
The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine to prevent against the flu virus.

FAFSA Fridays session Feb. 7

A FAFSA Friday session is being held from 10am-1pm and Feb. 7 from 1-4pm in the Library Computer Lab (SA-1128)

Please encourage students to attend. Students have to apply for financial aid every year.

We recommend students apply prior to mid-February to ensure availability of all eligible aid. A financial aid official will be available for assistance during these times. To schedule an appointment outside of these times, students should call 786-2237.

Students should bring:

Independent Students (above 24 years old)

  • Completed 2013 taxes, or estimates of 2013 income
  • FAFSA PIN, apply for a PIN at fafsa.ed.gov
  • Asset information, including the balance of checking and savings accounts
  • Social security number

Dependent Students (below 24 years old)

  • Everything above, plus all parent(s) information

It’s Homecoming Week at LLCC!

Wednesday’s (Feb. 5) performance with Comedian Ryan Reiss in the A. Lincoln Commons is being rescheduled for a later date.

Thursday: Homecoming Court Panel Interview & Voting from 10am-1pm in the A. Lincoln Commons.

Friday: Free Photo Booth with fun props provided  will be in the A. Lincoln Commons from 10am-2pm.

Saturday: Women’s Basketball vs. John Wood CC at 2pm, Men’s Basketball at 4pm in Cass Gym.  Homecoming Dance w/ entertainment by Headphone Disco 8-11pm in the Student Union.
