Open educational resources are free and openly shared resources, including textbooks, that can be customized for specific courses in most disciplines. For the past year, LLCC has participated in a SCOERs (Support for the Creation of Open Educational Resources) grant through FIPSE (the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education) at the U.S. Department of Education. The purpose of this grant is to develop, improve and expand OERs throughout the state, increasing student success through increased awareness and adoption of OERs. In this workshop, LLCC faculty who are part of this grant project will discuss the creation and implementation of an OER for a course on human nutrition, including a discussion of the successes achieved and challenges encountered. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how one might create an OER, the benefits of doing so and tips on how to overcome difficulties in the OER creation process.

Faculty participants will receive one point toward their Training and Innovation professional development total for successful completion of this workshop. Please register for this event.
