The Alpha Epsilon Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at LLCC held its fall induction ceremony Oct. 24 in the Trutter Center on the Springfield campus. The event formally recognized 17 new chapter members with a ceremony and reception attended by family and friends of the inductees and several representatives from LLCC administration.
During the ceremony, the following chapter officers were installed:
- Isaac Barrett, Sherman, President
- Hannah Shoemaker, Springfield, Vice President of Service
- Olivia Marchizza, Auburn, Vice President of Scholarship
- Alexa Maher, Auburn, Vice President of Records
- Mikah Ribble, Franklin, Vice President of Fellowship
- Lexie Ebersohl, Petersburg, Vice President of Public Relations
Additional PTK inductees were: Farren Ackerman, Virden; Madison Baka, Pawnee; Rylee Cass, Springfield; Tim Ensley, Raymond; Niki Herr, Springfield; Rayna Herzog, Springfield; Kaitlynn Loskot, Irving; Tiffany Luxner, Springfield; Elizabeth Metcalfe, Springfield; Simeon Ommen, Springfield; Leia Philbrick, Springfield; Bre Rainey, Springfield; and Riddick Workman, Arenzville.
The guest speaker for the ceremony was Rose Lovett, the president of the Illinois Region of Phi Theta Kappa. Former chapter president, Joey Gallo of Jacksonville, also participated in the ceremony.
“Our officers and members are provided with extensive leadership development and growth opportunities. I am particularly impressed with how this current group of student officers has taken initiative to establish relationships with other clubs and with other PTK regional chapters,” said Dr. Gillian Bauer, LLCC PTK chapter advisor and professor of English. “We are also proud to announce that we have been asked to host the next Regional Conference and Honors Institute for the Illinois Region in June.”
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society recognizing academic excellence in two-year college students. Its goals include promoting scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service among members.
