Leaders of LLCC’s Alpha Epsilon Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society attended the PTK Catalyst Convention in Columbus, Ohio, April 22-26.
Attendees included: Joey Gallo, AJ Colletti, Dee Goings, Jesse Dees, Caitlin Little and Olivia Marchizza.
At the convention, attendees networked with around 3,000 student leaders from PTK’s 1,300 chapters throughout the United States and 11 other nations. They attended leadership development sessions and college recruitment events, participated in the election of international officers and attended motivational talks from well-known speakers like Geena Davis, Academy Award winning actor and founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender and Media, and Manti T’eo, former All-American and NFL linebacker.
LLCC’s PTK chapter is advised by Dr. Gillian Bauer, professor of English. The honor society is open to LLCC full-time students who maintain a 3.5 grade point average or above. The chapter has maintained five star status, the highest status available, within the PTK organization since 2013.
PTK is the foremost honor society recognizing academic excellence in two-year college students. Its goals include promoting scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service.
