Exhibit open through May 11
The LLCC 2023 Juried Student Art Show is now on display through May 11, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Trutter Museum/James S. Murray Gallery, located on the upper floor of Menard Hall, Springfield campus.
Winners of various awards were announced at an opening reception: William Shaughnessy of Springfield – Best of Show and Photography, Ivy Grisham of Springfield – Art History, Faith Barnett of Waverly – Painting, Ellie Lieber of Springfield – Drawing, Noah Davis of Jerome – Digital, Erin Peterson of Sherman – 3D/Ceramics and Anaela Martin of Springfield – Student Show Poster.
Claire Waibel of Greenview was honored with the Alexis Wernsing Pinnacle Award. This award was established in memory of Wernsing, a 2011 LLCC graduate. The winner is chosen by LLCC art faculty and goes to the student who best embodies Wernsing’s qualities of striving for the best in all academic endeavors without complaint and no matter the context.
Artist Jeff C. Williams served as juror for the show. He commented, “I want to congratulate everyone for having the courage to submit works. It was my honor to jury the show and select the award winners for this exhibition. Special congratulations go out to the award winners; these were truly excellent works.”
