Approximately 185 students from 13 area high schools competed in the regional Academic Challenge held Feb. 8 at LLCC. Students competed as individuals and as teams (of up to 14 students) testing in their choice of two subjects — biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, mathematics and physics. View the team and individual rankings.
Prior to the competition, LLCC hosted exhibits for students to learn about opportunities at the college. Also, thanks to support from the LLCC Foundation, two $250 LLCC scholarships were awarded at the event.
Dr. Jason Dockter, interim vice president, academic services, spoke to participants and Mac Warren, assistant director, recruitment and response, served as emcee. The regional competition was organized Dr. Justin Cobb, assistant professor of biology.
