Dr. Samuel Wheeler is a historian specializing in the history of Illinois, the Civil War Era, and the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln. An LLCC graduate and 2019 Honored Alumnus, he earned his Ph.D. in history from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He has worked in the field of public history for more than two decades, including as State Historian of Illinois and Director of Research and Collections at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
